thanks for the links Looks to be a very exciting season next year with all the competition among different marques. I think interest in WC will hurt. They run the series horribly so they shot themselves in the foot.

The Europeans love their motorsports and are great fans. Many of them do travel over to Sebring, Mosport or Road Atlanta PLM and of course the LM24.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds that strange....

That would be like GM saying they're running the 2002 Camaro SS

BTW... Brian, it was good to finally put a face to the name this weekend. Kinda wierd that we end up working the same worker's station...

It is Oliver Kuttner and Doran leading the GT2 effort, not Ford.

Hey Steve, why not enter GT2?

The first press release dates July '06. Even if your wealthy, it takes awhile to get all your ducks in a row. Probably working on this since the car first came out. Interesting to see if it can win it's class 40 years after it was first built (yeah, I know it's not the same car and the technical specs are way different, but it's within a couple inches of it's original shape so it's one to watch).

Ford GTR for new team

might use Dunlop tires

http://www.americanlemans.com/News/Article.aspx?ID=3772

Engines will be from http://www.roushperformance.com/

http://www.doranracing.com/

Robertson Racing's GTR being built

http://translate.google.com/translat...e.php?sid=4419

A new race: Riley-built Corvettes in GT2

It will indeed cost $471,000.

Part one interview with Bill Riley:

http://www.theracesite.com/index.cfm...e&mag_id=14444

Part two with Lou Gigliotti:

tire selection was not announced in the interview

(Lou will be in the # 28 car and Doug Peterson will be in the second # 49 car)

http://www.theracesite.com/index.cfm...e&mag_id=14445

As a side note of Riley...

Rafanelli Engineering modified a Riley & Scott (previous name of Riley's company) MkIII and took one overall victory in an ALMS race in 1999 with a 4.0 liter Judd V-10 and Yokohama tires. The # 0 machine won the Road Atlanta race in April with Eric van de Poele and Domenico Schiattarella.

This is great news. Long live the ALMS and the LMS. We need a series that keeps up the tradition of the 12 hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Lemans.

Where else can American teams go to Europe and lay the smack down on the European teams?

A WRC team could be based in the U.S. but it would be difficult as many suppliers are over in the U.K.

This is good news. I was bored with ALMS this year given the lack of competition.
