Default Street/road course tires

Thinking of going BFG R1's all around. 470-500rwhp and 500lb. torque. Want something sturdier for high speed and cornering than drag radials that can still stick. Anyone try these tires?

Haven't tried those but a friend is running Michellin Pilot Sport Cup tires on his C6 Z06 and really likes them. They are R compound and have tread so you should be able to drive on wet roads too.

He drives his Z to and from the track and on open road races on them.
FWIW....

My barely 0.02. My next tire for track days is going to be the Toyo R888. Barely streetable, I would guess 4K miles from the rears at best. Haven't tried them, but high praise given by others and I can drive it to the track. Keeping my stock GYs for everyday, but if you can afford to run the sticky stuff the only thing to worry about is being prepared for flats.

Will look into the mich's and toyos. Have heard good things about both. This will be a weekend car so I hope either tire lasts me a while.

Not with that use and HP. Figure a few hundred miles per set.

Besides "R" compounds are measured in heat cycles not miles. and the best grip is the first 1 to 3 heat cycles, and 4 to 15-17 heat cycles grip is OK after that

If you do street driving, look at the Kumho Escta MX or the BFG KD. Tire Rack has this survey that may be worth looking at.

Your HP and TQ should easily cook any of these street tires but for occasional track days, the ones shown should be fine. Also look at the Goodyear GS-D3

IMHO, drag radials are not suitable for street use even though they are "DOT approved" and especially not when hard cornering like you will see on track days would be involved. They are typically designed for going straight.

At that HP level you will likely need to look at brake pads/fluid/and cooling mods (including your head, but also oils) seriously as well.

I like the Nitto NT-01's.

I just finished upgrading my brake rotors and pads and cooling is part of the motor package. I see the R1 are not for street, at all. I like the BFG kd. I just gotta realize that most tires wont hold too well. I'll just lay off the throttle. Thnx guys.
