Corvette Racing heats up at NASA Nationals
The NASA National event has started today at Mid Ohio Raceway. Josh left Salt Lake on Sunday with the truck and trailer to meet me here on Tuesday evening.
Here is the row of rigs registering at the gate.
Through the forum we've been able to organize with everyone who made the trip for the race. We rented paddock space to share with the Corvette guys - the bonus is that if you're a member of the Pfadt Race team, you can park here in exchange for beer. Matt Carlisle's C4 is closest, Wally's red C5 and my C5 are at the top of the photo.
At 3:30 today I was pleased with my best time at Mid-Ohio of a 1:28.3. For a while I was the leader for TTU (Time Trial). I knew that Danny Popp was set to hit the track a little later in the day and had to wait to see how fast his times were. Danny is a lot of fun to have around, even when he pulls into town and drops a 1:27.9 and takes the TTU lead!
Here's his ride
We'll have another session tomorrow (Friday) to battle it out in Time Trial and of course, we'll be competing in the ST-1 Wheel to wheel race as well. In addition to competing with Danny, I have this guy to worry about...Bob Meyer.
Like all of the Corvette guys, Bob is a talented driver and great to be around. He was proud of the artwork on his new hood.
Tomorrow's schedule includes a final stab at a fast lap for the Time Trial title and the beginning of qualifications for the Wheel to Wheel classes. I'll try to fill you in on the gaps from today - I know that Vettes did well in several of the TT classes today, but I didn't mention them. We'll keep you posted on all the action.

Aaron,
You should have known Matt would be one of the first guys there.
Good luck to ALL Corvette forum members! (That includes you too in the Viper Mr. Pintaric) Theres still hope for a Vette in your future again.
Look forward to reports when you guys can. I am in Topeka working the Solo Nationals. Trust me, I would rather be there watching, rooting or running for that matter.

There will be no blazing times today! We get so spoiled in Utah and today was a good dose of reality.
This gives you an idea of the amount of water on the track coming into Madness.
Team member Matt Carlisle was one of the first on the track. After repeatedly dumping the water from his easy-up, he was off.
Matt had a lot of trouble seeing because of the water and fog on the windshield inspite of the RainEx and FogEx. He wins the best quote of the day for proclaiming that if an added layer of FogEx doesn't fix the problem he's pulling the windshield!
Corvettes were running strong in all of their TT classes yesterday. Pfadt Team members Jared McGillicuddy (1:32.488) and Geff Sawtelle (1:33.842) are in the top two spots in TTS after yesterday.
Jesse White is in 2nd with a 1:32.266 in TTA.
We'll have to wait and see if the weather clears today for any better lap times.
I'll have my first session of the day a little later and we'll see how the water treats us.
Thanks for checking in!

On grid, waiting to go out for our first ST1 qualifying.
Of course, the biggest break in the rain came during lunch when no one was on the track to take advantage of it. The Corvette gang at the trailer for lunch and some smack-talk!
The race later today and the race tomorrow will combine to determine grid positions for the main race on Sunday morning. Everyone seems to be running in "maintain" mode. Just be safe, keep it on the track, and hope for sun for the main race.

Aaron,
I am almost 100% certain you and I crossed paths at Mid Ohio either today or yesterday. I think it was when I went riding in my golf cart by someone with a camera just outside of Greg G's garage.
I see you have a pix with my car in the background...I thought that was a violation of CF rules...
Today's race was fun. I like the rain. But that AWD Evo was hard to keep up with! I had him in the turns but he was able to put down his HP better than I could. Maybe tomorrow...
Good luck out there!
