Brawn GP dominates over McLaren & Ferrari in F1?
I never thought a recession could lead to this. At least it makes things interesting...

It's gotta be an April Fools joke. Obama doesn't want any part of running the automakers and is now saying that a pre-packaged bankruptcy looks inevitable for GM.
One thing is for sure.. It's a damn good thing that Obama is out of the country because I'm sure that a lot of NASCAR nation is going to take it seriously and want Obama's head for this.

I looked at the article again, and this was the dead giveaway that this is an early April Fools joke.
It's not April quite yet.

This guy is ridiculous!! Our president is the joke! I bet all the car companies in NASCAR get business just by having their name in NASCAR. They will definitely save on spending but I bet they take another hit in sales.

Seems logical to me.

I'd say that when a car company is going broke that racing falls to the bottom of the list. Run NASCAR at a big expense. Run ALMS with the Vette in GT!, against whom? How is that helping sell Corvette? I didn't buy mine because GM participates in it.
I understand the idea of having to have a presence because the other big manufacturers do. Other than that I'd love to see proof that it improves their sales.
Now I do agree that all the serious NASCAR fans who didn't see this is a joke. Will probably want Obamas head on a plate, or hood...

And I think it's silly someone has to step in to fix what they could do their selves. All along it's seemed to me that the GM management just isn't making the right choices. I think they hired Chinese infiltrators/saboteurs!

Don't forget that The One has put a Maryland college professor in charge of the auto industry Anything is possible.

The only reason this wasn't an obvious April Fool's joke is that Obama has already bent/broke so many rules (using tax law to punish individuals, firing GM CEO arbitrarily) without consequence that anything seems possible.
More to the point, how would C&D report this and NO ONE else? Obvious AF joke, just not over the top enough to be funny.
Have a good one,
Mike

Take a hit in sales to whom? Average Joe customer? I don't see why. My wife's Monte Carlo looks like Jeff's car vaguely in shape and absolutely 0 in real parts. She just likes the car. So she bought it. Monte Carlo sales are lackluster at best. NASCAR sure isn't helping to promote it.
