It is possible to deactivate the airbags by selective wire modifications. Why would you want to deactivate them ?? If I end up nose first in a tire wall, I want every safety function I can get in addition to the harnesses, HANS, etc.

if you vette has a warranty and or you think you might use the warranty, you may wish to think twice about disconnecting the air bags.
that information is stored in history. when a dealer plug in their tech II, they will know.
PLUS if you have On-star, the disconnect code may be transmitted to On-Star
Now if you dont care about your warranty, put in aftermarkest seats, harness bar and 6 points

I have seen a number of cars that had the air bags go off without breaking the windshield. There have even been some pictures of C5s in the For Sale section that had their air bags deployed and the windshield was still in good condition.
