Please confirm this is VIR Full Course! Danny is awesome and the sub 2:00 is almost unbelievable even for Danny in a Corvette, but a Hemi Challenger sub 2:00 suggests a faulty transponder!

Melting Slicks
To think that a Corvette like Danny's could run the same lap times as what is basically a worked over GT1 car with a HUGE motor in it is pretty amazing.
I gotta think that even if he ran close to a car like that, it is a huge victory in terms of starting with the right thing an tuning it, as opposed to building a whole tube framed car...

Melting Slicks
No ....my car has a rather smallish spinner motor that does not make torque.....550 ish rwhp and 485 ish rwtq. Which was no where nearly enough. I drove my head off and struggled with set-up since this is the first time this car has been on the full course.....gearing was not ideal and the car was continually bottoming in the uphill esses and brake zones....raised car alot ruining balance but did not bottom as badly.
Glen Bunch's crazy Hemi-Challenger did not seem like a very appropriate independant study vehicle as there are no factory pieces except the rear tail lamps. Phil Currin is a great driver and turned some very quick times relagating us to 2nd.....Glens car was 400 lbs lighter than mine and had 180 more cubic inches .....his car has 50% more displacement than mine(572)
The Riley was stooooopid fast as expected at 1800lbs and 500+ horsepower with a sequential gearbox....and a pro-driver.
Mike Skeens GT1/TA Corvette was also crazy fast obviously......I understand he shifts @ 9k+ Me likey RPM
I think I'll try to find more speed this weekend while I am here....wish I could have had it today.....
Small perk.....we were the fastest DOT tired car.......

I'm proud of him. An ST1 car running 1:54.1's is SOLID. He was easily the fastest car on DOT's and gave them a good fight. I have never seen anyone do the uphill esses like he did in his car today. That was scary and a thing of beauty all at once.
Thanks again Raftracer for letting me be a nutswinger and be a part of this event with ya'. By the way these Villa's are freakin sweet!
we need these at M-O

Nice laps, great showing maybe it's time to bolt up some real slicks for events like these, it would have made the difference I'm sure.
Good Job Danny

It's not that easy on bolting on some non DOT slicks. We have the cars setup to work with a certian size tire. Most of the slicks have taller sidewalls than we are using. We are already running the tires into the fenders and wheel housings.
This is on the list of todo items as we re-engineer the rear of the cars but that takes time.
Danny did very well compared to the Challenger. I would bet that one could build 7 (one for each day but they all would be blue) Corvettes like Danny's for the same money that is in the old Mopar.
