I hope they had some corner workers nearby with fire extinguishers. Where was this at?

Yes, very alert instructor in the car, I think saved the driver from hurting their car.

Among my many problems over the past 2 years was that a piston broke apart on my third LS3 at VIR in April 08 (back straight @ 6200 rpms). GM apparently already knew about this problem though and had new pistons designed, built and ready to put in the car immediately. An edge piece of the piston broke off and the piece hit the spark plug and closed the gap.

GM gets 1 atta boy from me for being so helpful and responsive to fix the car and 2 "aw $hits" for a poor oiling and piston design.

Ya that's summit. Great job holding onto the car. Just curious...why both feet in? So it doesn't stall out? Wouldn't the rpms help bring the car to a stop faster then dropping it to idle and braking?

Damn watching it a few times. He was almost 90 degrees around...wonder if AWD gave him a hand there. Great save.

Why did the Z06 spin? Too much weight transfer to front, thus losing rear traction?

Looks like he braked after it blew, then spun.

Wondering what to do in that situation...
