Default Cost to Widen a Wheel???

I'm thinking of having two 18 x 10.5 C5 Z06 wheels widened to 12 or 13 inches to fit a 335 or 345 tire for road course usage on the rear of my C6Z. Could use some help:

1. What should I expect it to cost;

2. Any suggestions on who could do the work?

I already have the wheels and am thionking this might be more cost effective than buying CCW's or another brand.

TIA.

Cost is approx. $240 each.

Weldcraft is the company.

Do a search as there were a bunch of posts on this topic a few weeks ago.

I worry a bit about doing this for road race use. We don't have any experience doing it, but I personally worry a bit.

I would also be concerned about balance.

Found a BBS retailer, 3 piece wheels are not that expensive $440 each

I would not use a widened wheel for road course action. I would even worry about it with too many drag strip launches.

I don't think there is another Forum on the net which gets so many responses from people who don't even remotely answer the question asked.

I didn't ask for personal, non-technical, unfounded, speculation regarding the mechanical integrity of widened wheels. I specifically asked for help on the price and who does it.....

No different than when someone asks a question on R compound tires and the "seat time" police show up! Oh well, I guess they mean well.

place in Monrovia, CA quoted me 215/wheel a couple years ago. Can't remember the name off hand, but I agree on not using them on track..

I have had a bunch of wheels widened by James at Weldcraft and never had a problem with balancing or heard of any issues with their wheels as far as durability goes.
They even made me a pair of one off 18x12 minilites and they balanced with one little weight.

Wheel widening is done to the inside of the wheel. On a C5Z rear 18x10.5" 58mm offset, to make it a 12" wide wheel the 1.5" is added to the inside of the wheel. It would create an 18x12 wheel with a 77mm offset. This works for a mini tubbed C5 but on a C6Z they may not fit. Stock offset on a rear 19x12" Z06 is 59mm. That is a difference of 18mm or about 3/4" spacer would be needed.

One other thing: The old House of Wheels 18x12 Z06 wheels (not needing a mini tub) have an offset of 64mm. That is only 1/4" off from what you would need. Unfortunately they are impossible to find.

Also there is the CCW big steet package of 18x11 front (57mm offset) and 18x12 rear (57mm offset). The rears would work great but the fronts would tuck the extra inch inside the fender. I don't know if there is room (not even taking into account caliper clearance.
