Default What is the optimal ride height?

I just installed LG coilovers and was wondering what is optimal ride height for a track C5. Measured from the ground to the highest point on the wheel arches.
Thanks

You want a level chassis. For a basic C5 body, try to achieve the same distance to the ground from all four jacking point holes. If you have added aero, other considerations must be made, i.e., rear wing pushing the car down at 'X' speed.

Doesn't the C5 require some rake for high speed stability? Seems like I read 1/4" from rear to front. Other than that, not sure why you would not go as low as possible.

I believe there was a post from LG suggesting 25-26 inches from the ground to the top of wheel arches. I cannot do that and still have a streetable setup. i have about 26.5 in the front and 27 in the back and already scrape the frame under the doors going through steeply graded driveways etc, also had to buy a new low profile jack to work on the car.

unless you trailer your car everywhere, I would not go any lower than 26 in the front.

you do need to have a rake of about 1/4 - 1/2 of an inch (higher in the back)

call LG and he will tell you how low you can go without hurting the coil-over set up.

at the jacking puck holes ( in front of the front jacking puck hole and behind the rear jacking puck hole)

Stock
Front
5 1/2" - 5 1/2"

Rear
5 7/8" - 5 7/8"

My car with t1 suspension and me in the drivers seat

front
4" - 4"

rear
4 3/8" 4 3/8"

with my street wheels on the front fender is 26" from the gound. with race wheels on the front fender is 25 7/8" from the ground.

I would not want to be any lower with out drop spindles

with the front splitter, I have 3" of ground clearance

I thought there was a difference in height for a slight rake too. But the manual said 4.5” at the jacking locations. That why I was asking. I am running stock C6z06 size tires 25.6” front 26.7” rear. I think this is the same height as the stock C5 were.
Thanks

As Tom pointed out, about 3/8" of rake is needed.

Lou answered this very question specific to his coil-overs in the past month try a search. You want to keep your lower A-arms parallel with the ground to don't slam it. 3/8 rake is good as stated above.

I went with the suggestion form Phoenix racing. They suggest about 1 to 1 1/8" rake front to rear (when you meansure from the stock fenders at teh center of the wheel)

Im 26 5/8 in the front and 27 3/4 in the rear.

As it is my cats scrape some driveway enterances :-(

I can’t wait to test this on the track. I only drove it on the street around my short test area and could not believe the difference.

if i helped focus the discussion following my post then yes, it was.

if not, then it's just one of the 90% of useless posts found on any forum, no biggie.

if you were personally insulted, no offense was intended.

Pulled up an 11 year old thread from the dead for your first post! I hope the OP has his ride height sorted out by now. Welcome to the forum Mike!
