Buying an enclosed trailer and got questions
What sites other than racingjunk.com are good for finding used trailers?
I am looking for 24 foot, 5k axles dual brakes, escape door.
If I find one without the escape door how hard is it to have one added?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. it's the fault of the forum members that I'm buying a trailer.

http://www.racingjunk.com/category/1...rs.html?page=1 has 1004 trailer listings
When you narrow it down to a Pace or Haulmark 24' with 10k there aren't that many left. I'm sure with the season winding down I'll find one in the next month or two.
Thanks for the posts.

I scan racingjunk all the time. All I ever see are ads for new trailers that cost ~$3700. I wonder if they would be OK if you are just a once a month tracker?

I have a Pace Pursuit 24" which I like very much
Mine has twin 3500 axles, not the twin 5000 axles.
the twin 5,000 would be far better. However, that is an option not often seen on 24'
Now on 28's you will see twin 5000s
28's need a 2500 pick up or larger to haul with
you guys want a trailer with the "race car package"
D- rings for tie downs
ramp door with beaver tail - if you have a lowered car you may have to put ramp extensions
24' do not normally come with escape doors either.
mine came with a wood interior. Which I painted the walls and cealing white and floor gray.
Put in the cabinets. Cheap cabinets are a mistake. Oh well

Two alone in the Moorseville area that I can think of.
Superior trailer in Burlington NC off I40 http://www.superior-trailer.com/
HGR's trailer in Hope Milles, south of Fayette. http://www.hgrstrailer.com/
Go to local trailer companies web site too see what they have in stock on their lots.
Most dealers dont put all their invetory on racingjunk.com
DOnt get a BLACK trailer. they my look cool, but black trailers are HOT in the summer. Stick with a white trailer

Not to hijack this thread, but which is better - a new open deck for $2,600 or a new low end enclosed for $3,700 (here: http://www.racingjunk.com/category/1...TRAILER.html)?
After $400 towing bill from VIR, I am not tracking anymore without a trailer. Just too many potential issues.

enclosed trailers have a place to get in out of the rain, Lock up your junk at the event.
and if for some reason you get home late at night. Just lock it up and go inside. Unload tomorrow
cant always do that with an open trailer.
Biggest downside of an enclosed trailer, is do you have a place you can store it?
for get about HOA. Public $torage is an option.
if you have the land that is great.

Well the Transmission wasn't happy I was pulling in Over Drive but once I stopped that no issues 77k on truck and I towed from MI to Road Atlanta, Miller & Lime Rock as well as all the other shorter tows (less than 5 hours) So it's not just short flat tows.
FYI we towed to Miller (Utah) striaght there and back non-stop.
Normally tow around 75

LOL, I had our town ordinance officer at my house Wednesday, our HOA says no trailers the town says no more that 48 hrs at a time and 72 hours in a week.
So I moved it back and forth between my house and a neighbors just to **** off my one neighbor that keeps calling the town on me
Also you get much worse gas mileage with an enclosed

You got that right.
When I was looking for a trailer a few years ago. My GF ( now Wife) said you can put it in our drive way.
we were looking for a house together.
I bought the trailer and we where with in a week of buying our house. Well closing got delayed few days and I kept the trailer on the street one night.
Man next morning at 7:45 am the local police were pounding on the door. Some one complained it was in the way.
it was no bigger then the tow truck down the street that is parket there all the time.
So yes Parking/Storing is a big issue.
and parking my trailer was BIG MY LIST for when we bought a home.

Burning Brakes
I ordered a fully finished 22' Vintage "Outlaw" through Flying A Motorsports in Cuba Missouri. The trailer is an 09 and it came in a bit less than your $10K. The trailer has the 5000lb axles and is fully equipped, complete with lights, awning and cabinets! No longer do I worry about my gear while in hotel parking lots!

I bought my first enclosed last year. I purchased it off craigs list after looking for a very long time for the right trailer. With enclosed trailers you get what you pay for. Cheap trailers are garbage. Buy used and get a great deal. It might need some work, but its not too bad. My featherlite retails for nearly $15k which I would say is a bit overpriced considering that it is bare bones. No interior walls, no extra nothing. I got mine just barely used for $6500. I installed all new brakes, bearings hubs, wheels/tires. Not that the ones on it were bad, but trailer parts are really inexpensive so I would rather make sure everything is sound before hitting the road. Besides, now I have four spare tires. I made my own custom winch mount and installed a battery. I also rewired the whole thing and added 110v wiring throughout with flourecent lights and plug outlets as well as additional 12v lighting both inside and outside. I added all my own cabinets and tire rack. I used pit products and would say they have good stuff for the price. I lined the whole interior with 1/2" plywood and used rigid foam insulation in the cieling finished off with white board. It was a lot of work, but I did it with far better craftsmanship than any trailer I have ever seen. Everything, including the wall is installed with threaded inserts sunk into the studs so everything is load bearing. Trailer is solid as a rock and super functional. Every single component has its place and I located things in order of importance. For instance I put jack and anything I need to change a flat next to the side door. I designed everything before doing any work so its all organized and planned out for ease of use. In addition, its all easily servicable. If I had a trailer place do this it would have easily added another $8k-$10k to the price tag and I am positive it would not have been done as nicely. Proper organization is key. Especially if you do not get a really big trailer.
