Driver line up for one of the LG Grand Am Corvettes
Hi guys,
we are building 2 cars for the Grand Am series. These are Prep 1 cars so they started life as real Corvettes.
We are happy to announce our drivers in the first car which will debut at Homestead Florida race.
Both drivers are very good. and one had Corvette racing in his resume.
Kelly Collins and Eric Lux will be the two drivers in our first car, #27 LG Motorsports Corvette
As you know, Kelly ran Le Mans 4 times with Corvette racing, finishing 2nd 3 times along with Andy Pilgrim.
Kelly was also the 2008 Grand Am Champion driving for GM as a factory driver in the Pontiac G8.
Kelly goes way back with Corvette Racing.
The Second driver will be Eric Lux. Eric has shown that he is good enough to help win races. Eric is normally a Porsche driver but he has "seen the light!"
We are pleased to have both of these drivers in our first Corvette that will show up for the first time at Homestead.
Both drivers will be driving in the Daytona Rolex 24 in Porsches to get points because we will not have our car finished by then.
We will be using the EMCO new Sequential Transmission direct replacement in the car.
The engine by the rules will have to be an LS6 to give a chance to the Porsche teams.
It could use an LS2 but the cam would have to be down sized so we passed on that idea.
The second car, #28 Corvette is planned to debut at Alabama or VIR.
We will keep you posted and updated
Thanks

Lou/Louis, a couple of questions about the car:
I see you can run stock LS6 or LS2 w/GA-mandated spec cam. How much HP do these engines produce?
For Prep1, the regs say "springs are free (max four) provided they are original type". Does this mean you have to run transverse leafs?
for prep1 the regs say OEM size brake rotors (or as specified). Can you run larger than OEM size rear rotors?
Leighton R is running his P&M tube frame pseudo - GTO/GXP/Corvette, Stevenson is running its P&M tube frame pseudo - GTO/GXP/Camaro, and Gainsco is running its "Chevy"-Riley DP. Is Gov Motors providing any support to these teams or the GA series?
TIA

*** same as stock with headers and a blueprint. so it will be under 450 flywheel hp

***Grand Am rules are exactly what is written OR what they say is ok. We have our drop spindles approved and coil over shocks and the pick up points can be moved within 1 inch.
It is essentially an ALMS chassis using stock suspension A arms and our LG Drop spindles.
They also approved the EMCO Sequential transmission that we have been testing. That requires the stock torque tube and stock diff. the Diff tuning is a big deal that we won't have compared to the prep 2 transaxle
for prep1 the regs say OEM size brake rotors (or as specified). Can you run larger than OEM size rear rotors?
we have to run 13" rotors which is the same for the Prep 2 cars. They would not budge on that rule.

I will say that GM had one more year on their contract with Kelly and to honor it he had to be in a GM car. to their credit, they told Kelly that our team would be his best choice given that the pratt cars were already spoken for.
No problem, we have always run on our own and now we will ALL be on Pirelli tires and I hear they are really good. Plus we all have to run them so it will be down to Tire Management and team work, as well as good driving and staying out of trouble.
We are looking forward to it.
Thanks
Lou G
PS, we are building the best, most sophisticated grand am Prep 1 car that anyone has ever seen, and all within the rules. This car is the culmination of all we have learned in the past years including alms, world challenge, trans am etc. unfortunately we are not putting out photos for quite a while because we want to keep it to ourself.

Same Eric Lux that is driving with Gravity Racing, in the 24 Hrs. of Dubai? if so, he's in a Mosler MT900R, which is a little bit Corvette related
