ALMS Racing Model Display (Pictures Inside)
After many many months and late nights, my ALMS display is done. Can't race in this Ohio snow, so this is my winter hobby.
I was very fortunate to be able to work 3 years in this series with Kumho and thought I would make something to remember it by. Found an old Earnhardt Monogram large scale black semi & trailer, except it had a old KW truck. Found our exact KW T2000 tractor model in the same color and painted the trailer just like ours.
Made the canopy from plastic model pieces and bought the material from Joanne fabrics and cut & glued it very carefully. I didnt have a C6R so I used my C5R I had instead, you get the idea! The P2 Lola Mazda BK car is the actual car we sponsored in 07 that Mazda racing had made and gave out to all team members and sponsors. I knew I would have a use for it someday!
Canopy hold down water jugs are just round wood dowel painted to look like the real thing, and red string to look like the red ratchet straps to anchor it down. Tire machine, balancer and tool box was aGMP kit that Summit Racing carries as well as others. Green tank is the Nitrogen we used to purge and evacuate tires.
Snap lock floor is something I found at Pat Katans (Hobby place) that looked just like the real thing, except I painted the black around the edges to match ours. Cut a piece of wood I had in the garage and routed a 1/4 down to fit the pit wall in and glue. Paint it and glue the
sponsor decals on the front straight wall and presto!
Now, where the heck do I put this thing?? It measures 32" long
by 20" wide and 9" tall!

[QUOTE=rasrboy;1573197190]Yeah yeah, I forgot you never see that stuff! I never said I was a photographer, just a wanna be racer! [/QUOTE
Snow, pretty stuff. I have only been in snow 6 times in my life, saw it come down once for about an hour when I was in Oklahoma. Today sort of sucked, rained in the morning but cleared up to 72 and sunny by this afternoon.
On the photography side it's not you it's the lights your shooting under. The answer is to check your camera's function. It likely has a setting for fluorescent lighting. Select that, use a little tripod and it will come out pro.
Nice work on the model.

Great work Aaron. I haven't had time to work on anything like that in years even with the snow here. I wish I did though. I have to work 56 hours a week just to pay for my habit, er, I mean hobby.
