Anyone mod C6 seats for racing harnesses?
I am looking at putting C6 seats (style below). Has anyone ever modified these seats to use a standard racing harness? I've seen some real nice jobs on the C5 Z06, but can't find anything done on the C6. Anyone done it? Pics?

I really wouldn't waste my time on doing that to the stock seats, because once you get good and dialed in on the car, you will realize the stock seats are trash for tracking. I'm absolutely sore and worn out from trying to hold my postion with my stock c5 seats and six point harness. You just can't get the harness tight enough to compensate for the poor seats.

There is a local guy here that has modified C5 Z06 seats and put pass-throughs for harness belts. He also put in more bolster support at the same time. They turned out awesome. Here's a write-up on that ... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...r-harness.html

If you autocross under SCCA rules you will have a problem if you cut the seats to install a harness. The rules forbid it. 13.2 I:
Driver restraints as outlined in Section 3.3.1 are allowed. Seats may not be cut to allow for the installation of alternate seat belts or harnesses.

All due respect, I think your friend's mod is somewhat functional, but looks like crap; not to mention the lack of a sub-belt passthroughs and limited fitment potential. There is a proper way for harnesses to fit, and those passthroughs will fit less than 5% of the population. Anytime you cross a seam you are going to get poor results.
These are proper harness passthroughs that allow for a wide range of drivers:

You can modify the seats as shown but a lot depends on the size of the driver and the location of the harness bar. If you are using a Hardbar the harness bar will be too high and the shoulder belts will actually go down from the bar and then horizontally through the seat back. Thus, the seat back becomes part of the harness system which is bad. It will be even worse if the belts then need to go upwards to cross the driver's shoulders. You can pull them tight but in case of an unintended impact the force of the driver's body going forward would pull the belts straight, tear the seat back material upward and allow several inches of slack to suddenly appear.
The belts are meant to hold you in the seat. The purpose of the seat is to hold you in place. Without proper shoulder and leg bolsters to keep your upper and lower body from pivoting sideways around the lap belt it really doesn't help to add 5 or 6 point harnesses to a stock seat. You can get just as much support from the stock 3 point belt system by using the Vette's cinch belt feature. That way you can lock the lap and shoulder belt and get them tight enough to squeeze your butt down into the seat.

Here's a picture of some C6 seats with the harness going through the seat back:
Just FYI, here are some pics of the stock seats out of a C6.
BTW, these are what's left of my C6 Z06 seats after swapping them for some C6 seats to get the adjustable bolsters and lumbar support, as well as for the full 6-way power on the passenger side.
If anybody sees any parts you could use, shoot me a PM. I've still got the seat back frames, the side airbags (for both sides), and the foam pads.
I also have some ebony C6 seat cover skins that could be used if someone does want to cut passthrough holes in them.

There are so many things wrong with this setup, I don't know where to start. I think I'll just let Bill chime in, and end by saying I would not want to be in this car during a frontal impact.

Yes it can
Sub belts should come up between the seat bottom and seat back, not from the front of the seat
and if you have a choice, chose a nomex seat cover, not leather. Leather gets hot and slippery.
