Windshield Crack - Common?
I cracked the GM replacement windshield during or after this weekend's MAM event (I noticed it when I pulled into Kansas City). This windshield was installed in May and I've tracked the car since then. It's an '08 Z51 and I was on street tires. Safelite Autoglass is indicating that there is a chip that caused the crack but what they are referring to is barely visible to the naked eye. I'm guessing they chipped the outside edge of it when they put it in.
Has anyone else had windshield stress cracks due to track days?

i belive i have several stress cracks on mine, when mine is perfectly clean you can see several marks in the glass that are not either on top or on the inside.
mine is original glass so makes me wonder.

Mine cracked at VIR this year. It's starts on the passenger side midway up and runs parallel to the ground. There are no chips. I've been told it's from flex.

Windshield crack
Mine cracked at VIR this year on a very hot weekend. I told my repair man (very knowledgeable windshield repair dealer) that I thought it might be a stress crack and he advised me that the small chip on the windshield was the culprit. Apparently it doesn't take much......expensive repair with the HUD.

I've used thin CA glue to fill small clips & cracks with great success.

I have comprehensive on mine. Covers that for free. Mine has no cracks, but it is pitted almost as bad as the hood. Will be time to repl soon.

yesterday a rock put a nice side chip in my windshield. Used a repair kit and filled it in before going out on the track again. worked good enough could barely tell where the chip was.

Interesting visit from the Safelite Manager today. He pulled the A-Pillar cover to show that it wasn't chipped when it was put in in May. He waved the $100 deductible so I get a new windshield at no initial cost to me. The bill on the last one was $1024 including install. He said that there were rarely aftermarket options for C6 Corvettes because PPG tried but failed to make a non-factory one that worked.

I am on my third windshield. All it takes is a stupid small chip and eventually you get a crack. Last time, my car was sitting quietly on the trailer for a few days, then CRACK - all the way across the windshield. There was a very, very small chip almost under the exterior trim piece where the crack started. I love full glass coverage
