how to adjust lash on pfadt ball joints?
Anyone know how to do this?
I've got a little clunk in the back end which I thought was the heim joints on the adjustable sway bar, but I took the sway bar off and I still got it.
Its only on small little bumps usually when the bump is only on one of the rear wheels (hence why I thought it was the adj sway bar end links).
I wanted to see if the lash is correct on the rear lower pfadt ball joints.
I turned the adjustable nut, but it tweaked the notches above the nut (I only did one of the two ball joints).
I am thinking maybe you have to remove the snap ring, then slide the washer with the female notches out then adjust the nut.
I think I must have did it wrong, anyone have experience?
I am wondering now if I am safe to drive the car or not.

Never mind, I got it.
Yes the one with the notches is in essence a lock washer for the lash adjusting nut.
One you remove the snap ring, use two screw drivers and gently pry out the notched washer. Adjust nut.
Sure enough, my left lower ball joint lash was loose.

I talked to Josh at Pfadt this morning.
He may put these procedures up on their website down the road.
Procedure to adjust lash:
[1] remove snap ring
[2] remove lock washer
[3] back off lash adjusting nut fully
[4] tighten lash adj nut until you feel it touch inside (I assume the bottom of the actual ball joint but you can't see how its constructed inside)
[5] loosen lash adj nut 1/8 turn.
He was very helpful troubleshooting after-wards regarding my rogue clunk.
Interestingly he is thinking my next stop would be to look at the toe-rod end links which I would never have thought of. (I currently have the lash adjusted way too tight, the rear suspension is binding and I still have the clunk so I know its not the ball joint lash out of adjust).
I am impressed with Pfadt service and their tech knowledge.
