Alloy lug nuts

My 87 does dual duty for autocross and track days. I use regular lug nuts from a local parts store. Nothing special about them, just generic 12mmx 1.5 with the 60 degree taper. I do replace them annually as they are inexpensive.
Because the seller doesn't really describe what "lightweight alloy" really means or what the material is, I don't think I would risk the chance of a lugnut coming loose, cracking or whatever. Stock lugnuts should work just fine. Keep a close eye on the threads on both the nut and stud, watch for any galling on the taper surface, and torque the nuts in two or three passes to the proper spec.

I would trust them depending on where they were made and to what spec. There is some cheap junk out there! You don't need to change them every year.
One of the guys posted these awhile back:

I have been using these in black or silver for 3+ years. They work great. They are very lightweight and easy to handle.
They come in black or aluminum color.

With both the steel and alloy I change out my lug nuts once per year as the thread start to weaken due to the numerous times per race weekends the wheels are going on and off the car.

For me they are good the life of the bearing... and probably longer, but that is when I replace them. I think the alloy lugs are easier on them then the steel lugs. That is because they are longer and spread the stress better on the ARPs I use.

I am surprised arp only seems to have the 5/8 NASCAR lug nuts, I could not find the GM 12x1.5
I guess I should try these if you guys like them. Looks like a lot more thread engagement, do you suppose that's because it's alloy not steel?
I called ARP, all they have are the NASCAR nuts.

I asked the ebay seller about the nuts & he said they are
t7075 cnc
I'm not sure he knows what that means & not sure I do either?
What do you guys think?
For all I know they are the same lugs that other race parts companies sell for 2/3/4 times the price?
Seems worth a try, if they last a year, it's a fair deal.

I just looked & the acorn bulge does not look like the bulge is big enough? Stock as a substantial bulge.
Can you post a link?
