Low down video...
In the 2nd open practice session yesterday at VIR, I installed a camera on my splitter. It's only about 3 inches off the track so the view is a little different than what we're used to seeing. During this session my battery came loose and settled against the exhaust manifold, shorted out and ended my day, but I got this video before it ended.
The undulations in the track that aren't noticeable from driver height, are obvious and exacerbated from this level.
Giddy Up!

Jody, is it more to the right side? I know it's not the case but it looks like you missed every right hand apex.
Neat perspective but I prefer hearing the engine more. It looked like you were in a shifter cart!

Interesting, I'm sure u r looking 4 feedback, so mine.
If this were a mix of 4 or 5 cameras edited to one video I think it would add interest to the video, as it is, not so much.
Sound pick up = bad in that location.
It's a good spot to give the feeling of speed, yes.
Amazing how cameras can film, clearly, at that speed.
Kudo's for trying something new.
PS how the heck do you have a battery mounted that melts against an exhaust manifold?

Drifting
There are several different makers of super small video cameras that I have tried in the past. This make and model of camera makes it very difficult to tell if the camera is actually parallel to the ground or not when it is mounted. If I can give you a huge tip when using this camera the next time, try angling the camera up away from the ground quite a bit. This will keep from showing 2/3 of the screen with nothing but pavement in the shot.
Keep trying new camera angles and remember that using a wide angle lens you can angle the camera away from the ground or away from the side of the car. This will give you a much better view of the other cars on the track and you can still see plenty of the car or the ground in the shot too.
I like to use GoPro cameras for several different reasons. I drill a hole in the clear camera case so I can plug into the video out plug and connected the camera to a small video monitor. Then I am able to preview the exact camera angle I'm going to see before I start recording. The GoPro BacPac monitor is not useful in all situations and this is why I preview my camera adjustments the way I do.

Guys! Guys! Don't make more of this than it is!
This was just an attempt to show a little different perspective than what we usually see on track videos. It wasn't an attempt to rival a Steven Speilberg production or to set a track speed record; it was to show how a $30 Ebay micro camera can take a lickin' and keep on tickin' with pretty good resolution even after all the conversions necessary to get to the www.
Due to its size, the camera positions are limited only by your imagination.
We installed one like this on Z06TRACKER's car at Charlotte Motor Speedway a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't attach it securely enough and it blew off somewhere. I learned from that and installed it a little better this time.
Mike, here's how I installed it on the splitter: (it's about equal to the inside of the driver's side left wheel)
Here's a picture of the camera:
