Steering wheel lock disable
#3
Mechanically disable it. There is a plate that stacks on the column and has notches in it for the steering wheel lock to engage. I chucked mine up on a lathe and turned them all off. You can do the same thing with a cutoff wheel and grinder. It just won't look as good.

I think like you that this would be a good idea. But read this first. There are reasons you can't just remove the lock because of sensors blah blah blah. I was too lazy to really get into it and just decided to leave it. If you figure it out post back here please.

In my car the lock itself is still there. It just has nothing to attach to. The lock can be activated, but will never be able to stop the wheel from turning. The one thing I'd like to do is to have the computer re-programed so that the fuel is not cut off.

TRACKBOSS I like your idea, cutting off the tabs. I'm thinking of manually switching the fuel pump as my car has many times just quit. Sometimes fires then dies. Once died on lap 2 then refired after the race was over. Very frustrating! Is there any ecm's that you can use to bypass all that BS? I don't need the VAT system I'd like to rid myself and the car from all that.
