C6 Z06 hard brake line failure
Not the same line as that mentioned in another thread. This one revealed itself (fortunately) just a few days after a Sears Point track event. TPS Motorsport in Campbell was doing an oil change and brake fluid flush, and when the mech stepped on the brake pedal to move some fluid there was a loud POP, and brake fluid sprayed all over the engine compartment as the brake pedal went to the floor. The hard line from the master cylinder to the ABS unit had ruptured, and it shows signs of chafing. Another good item to put on your "must check" list, this would not have been a pleasant failure entering T11 at Sears at 117 mph. I have a photocopy of the parts page if anyone wants a copy emailed to them. By the way, the part had to come from Dearborn, none available locally, so it is a rare failure.

Drifting
I had two brake lines burn thru at the same time on the driver side, they were touching the header.
Had lines cut, and new pieces flared and put in.
The lines were not available from GM - or no part number local delaers could find.
After that checking around I found the tranny cooler lines on the passenger side were also touching the header.
That could have been a really nasty fire if they blew.
No room to bend the lines away, so wrapped the lines with header wrap.
I would really like a copy of the parts page you mention.

Thanks.

hate to retread an old post, but my hard brake line on driver side looks to have gotten a leak from my headers (smoke coming out from the hood is not a pleasant site). Looking for part #s and any issues to be looking out for.
thanks

Always a must do, Stainless brake lines anytime you are going on track.

A good stainless line should have a quality liner on the inside with the ends crimping not only that but the stainless on the outside. Not saying they can not fail but what happened to Lou's car was the brake getting hot enough to melt away the rubber causing the end to melt off around the crimp and loose the line.

Burning Brakes
Make sure hard lines are supported along their entire length, at bends and where they penetrate a bulkhead or anything like that. Unsupported lines will vibrate, and work harden somewhere down the line making a crack inevitable. Every time I'm under the car I check all the clips to make sure there is no play.
