Default Is Austin Texas the Next Hotbed of Motor Racing?

The new Circuit of The Americas track is nearly complete, and the dance card is filling up fast!

Nov 2012 & 2013 - Formula 1
Mar 2013 - Grand AM
Apr 2013 - MotoGP
May 2013 - Aussie V8 Supercars
Sept 2013 - FIA World Endurance Championship & ALMS

Word is that Indycar is talking to them about securing a date...that would make 3 races for them in Texas in a calendar year, TMS, Houston and Austin.

All they are missing is NASCAR and SCCA Pro, and they would have every U.S. race series covered.

It sure is getting the environmentalists panties in a twist here

I know they had a BIG group of SCCA reps here in July taking them on a tour of the facilities...

And then Phase 2 has the motorsports club, driving/riding schools and track days are coming...the Ferrari Club has first dibs.

Right next to the airport, easy access, centrally located, good weather, Texas girls.

Yes it should take its place as a hotbed.

NARRA (www.narraonline.com) has been recently polling past participants on interest in paying 2x entry fee's to run at COTA in 2013.

If you want to DE/TT/Race on an F1 track, here's your chance, as I've heard just any Tom, Dick, or Harry probably ain't gonna be running there.

Get on their facebook wall and let them know if you'd want to do it. They are probing now.

My hunch is they will have no shortage of entrants on the list if they end up having it on the schedule (time will tell I suppose).

I really want to go to the f1 race but have a work related event cant get out of. Going to try my best, was planning on driving there from sc. It would be worth it. Buddy of mine's mom lives 20 miles from the track.
