I know it's easy to remove the actual mirror, but how difficult is it to permanently disconnect the wiring harness that plugs into it so that it doesn't throw codes?
My reason for wanting to remove it, or replace it with a smaller manual dimming mirror, is it's directly in my line of site through the windshield.

We never had one on the ALMS car, might have a hard time getting the glued on clip off the window. Might want to use some fishing line for that.
Since we had a firewall and you can't see out of the back of the car we had a rear view camera in the car....actually works a bit better.

I'm not too concerned about removing the mount affixed to the windshield, but more with the electronics plugged into the back of the mirror.

I pulled the stock mirror out of my 2006. Numerous reasons -- it blocked a large area to drivers' right and it vibrated like crazy after having the windshield replaced.
Put the smallest AutoZone mirror in it's place and spliced an LED array into the wiring harness and stuck the array onto the windshield behind the mirror for interior lighting.
Removing the harness from the mirror should be easy.
