Default Rotor Cracks Opinion

How bad are these for an HPDE day? Can I get one more day (4-5 sessions of 20 minutes) on a "moderately easy on the brakes" track? This is my first experience with these kind of rotor cracks, so I don't know how far people generally push them.

Thanks!
Dan

That's very normal and nothing to worry about. If you have a spare bring a front along as a "just in case" changeout.

Great -- thanks guys!

If you have any photos to share of rotors that are "about done", I would love to have that as a reference. My stock Z51 drilled rotors really didn't crack but these StopTech ones cracked quickly.

Thanks!

They are done when the crack runs all the way to the outer diameter and you can catch a fingernail on them.

Cracked down to the hub is a bad thing too. When they go "thud thud thud" when you gently push your brake pedal down then it's time to toss em!

This coming from a guy who doesn't change rotors until they come out in pieces

Those look fine depending on how aggressive a brake pad you use. Hawk DTC 70's would probably kill those in 5 more sessions.

Rotors are cheap and its a fast, easy job in the cool comfort of your garage. Doing it between sessions on a blistering Texas day is something I'd rather not do.

Plenty of life left in that set of rotors. As previous posters have said, when you can catch a fingernail in the crack and it extends to to the circumference or near, it is done. I am conservative on rotor replacement. Would rather change them in the garage than in the dust and gravel at the track.
