Default High Temp Foam for Use Under the Hood

I have cool new ducting under the hood for my tilt-forward radiator. The air comes through the front and is ducted up and out of the top of the hood.

I used some black foam tubing of this type to better seal up the top of the ducting where it meets up with the hood, but this stuff does not handle the heat too well as you can surmise.

I am looking for something similar that will hold up to 400 degrees plus. Any ideas?

They have lots of types.

Great idea working on louvers just like that for mine.

May want to insulate that aluminum intake pipe if it runs through the hot air area?

Sidetrack question,

Where did you get the center and edge louvers?

John

Those are from John at http://www.trackspecmotorsports.com/

He is a small manufacturer of louvers for motorsports. I like his stuff a lot better than the generic louvers out there that look like they were stamped out by Home Depot's HVAC vendor.

It is not the looks that I like although they are better looking, what I like is the volume of air they move and the fact that he has custom designed these specifically for the Corvette hoods.

Thanks. Agreed. I hate the HVAC looking setups. Yours is obviously functional but also looks good. He doesn't show any aero or louver options on his website though. Is it a special request type item?

I know he has them shown on his Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Track...67999473215927 They are new since the beginning of this year. I put mine on about three months ago. He probably has not added them to his website, yet. The last time I talked to him he was still doing limited production runs and they are selling out despite no advertising. They are selling mainly from people seeing them on the race cars.

Better looking, less work.

You never know with me!

That is a somewhat arbitrary number, but the foam I am using to seal the ducting rearmost deteriorates from the heat of the engine and headers. It probably is not an issue while driving, but more so when I stop and the heat from the headers rises up and collects under the hood.

Pop the hood? Are your headers coated?

My headers are not coated, and I frequently pop the hood, but not always.

Sometime I am racing and we all end up in impound for 30 minutes. Sitting in a line to get on the scales, etc.

A foam with more heat resiliency is the most pragmatic answer I have come up with.

I know this question has been sidestepped several times, with a link to the fb page provided, but I'm gonna try my luck....how much are they?

I think they are around $300, but I am not certain. I worked with the manufacturer in the development of this system. Just like I am working with another maker of a new splitter system. These items are getting made for me, but will likely see consumer availability.

I suggest you write to him. His name is John Nguyen.
