Looking for 1966 Customized Corvette
Does anyone recognize this customized 1966 Corvette? Customized back in the early 70's sold approx. 1975-76 in Irvington or Newark, NJ
I came across it for sale in 1988 in New Jersey. Car was repainted maroon. Flared wheel wells, headlights in grille, front parking lights removed, 1967 Tempest taillights, 67 side fender vents, vinyl hardtop, 67 BB hood, black roll n pleated interior and dash. Original 425hp car with small block in it. My brother built it back in the day. I remember he paid $500.00 for it and the guy through in a Vertex Magneto. The good old days.

Tail lights aren't 66 Tempest....'67 maybe. I'm a Pontiac guy! Good luck finding it...if it survived to 1988, I'll bet it's still around.

I remember a nearly identical one in Reno, Nv back in 71-72. That one had a 66 big block hood with a tan stinger. And a solid lifter 327. Had its headlight buckets, can't remember if it had side pipes. Same taillights, flares, wheels, and color. Vynyl top too.

I grew up in that area during that time. Do you know what town those pics of the 66 in the driveway was?
I remember seeing those taillights on a few C2s "back in the day".
Always liked that mod.

Personally I always preferred Riviera tail lights.

Every time I look at this picture I flash back to high school in the late 60's. I'd like to build that car one day. Looks like L60s in the rear.
Too cool.

Car was originally green never yellow. My brother bought it and customized it back in the early 70's and sold it around 1976. He removed the headlight buckets and did all the customizing himself. Car is pictured at my parents house in Bergenfield, NJ. When I came across the car in the late 80's for sale it was repainted maroon. Just curious if its out there or restored back to top flight status. It was born as a 427/425.
