Block #'s , ???
Just pulled a motor from a 65 vert, in storage for 25 yrs. Orign motor cam with car but this block was in the car w/ these heads, are they from another vette? Any info would be great.
Block 3756519 stamp pad TT216D (looks like)
Heads 3774682 L9 60
Not sure if any has any interest in this or parts of, I did some research and found that the block was a 58-62 (283) and the heads 60-64 (283/327).

Tonawanda-built 283 block - from a passenger car or truck; Corvettes used the 519, but only from Flint. Heads are also from Tonawanda.

what about
I have a 174 block in my vette.. What's wierd is the stamp pad has "V0728HC"... Is this a vette block? 66 didn't have an "HC" so I guess it could be a real bad stamp and should be "HO"?? It realy does look like "HC" tho..

John, many thanks.. Now it fits.. THe block casting is "F176" so I guess it's a passenger car block. The engine had been converted to look like a L76, so I have the correct harmonic balancer etc.. I'll use that stuff on my 180 block... What's wierd about that is the NCRS judge guide say that a 180 with a 2 char cast date is incorrect, but Nolands' book clearly has them as 2 char.. I guess I'll post of the NCRS forum to see whats up.. thanks!!!!!

The 3858180 block has only been verified as having been used in a VERY small number of 65's, NOT 66's, and the casting dates on those blocks have two digits for the year code, as they were cast at Tonawanda (and assembled at Flint, with an "F" prefix on the pad stamp). Those 180 blocks also have the casting date on the driver's side, adjacent to the casting number, not in the normal location on the passenger side.
