You need to try and send that pic again, it didn't come through. Next time hit preview post first to make sure the picture is there and then submit the post. Common problem.

I recognise the picture. Are you trying to make one from a roadster?

To 1954Corvair, you might want to post the progress pics into one thread and keep adding to it instead of starting a new one. There are currently 3 different threads going.

I think it's a great project and looking forward to more shots and info as you progress.

Yes we are making a convertible a coupe. The trunk is now complete and since I am so bad with pictures I will just let people see it in Carlise when the top is on. Teh project has went really well with the prints I have from a General Motors Engineer who worked on the project.

The folks involved in this fantastic project have been very kind to allow me to publish some of their pictures on my 1954 Corvair web site.

I am almost as excited as they are to see a '54 Corvair recreated!

I seem to remember that there was a disply at the 2007 SEMA show last fall that was offering an add on top for C1's that made it look similar to the Corvair. Do not remember the name of the company, but I think someone on this forum posted something about it . Could not find the post. Did a Google search and came up with this:

I don't believe the website you found is selling 1954 Corvair conversions, but these guys:

...are also tooling up to do this thing:

...and are said to be in discussion with a customer to do a 1954 Corvair version.

All of these are done on a C-5 base. Not my cup of tea, but they are selling lots of them. They were probably at SEMA, too.

are you going to reproduce the whole body? i can't imagine there are very many wayward 53-55 bodies available.

You can actually purchase a kit car 53-55 body from Lone Star for about $6000.00. Not bad for a foundation of a new 54 Corvair. Add today's technology and have a sharp retro rod???
