I had my shop use PPG. Whatever you decide, make sure you stay with the same paint company and product line for all of your painting needs. Jerry

I agree with Tampa Jerry, stay with the same system. I used Dupont Chroma base 20 years ago and it held up very well. I'm about to redo my 67 and have purchased the dupont line of products again.
Good luck
Russ
ps. You may want to stay with the system your painter knows as long as it's a quality paint.

Every paint manufacturer has several paint formulas. I like PPG because I have used it and won several awards for paint on my 32 Ford Coupe. But as long as you use a high quality paint and stay with the recommended formulas you will be fine. Most problems are with proper prep and not so much the paint itself. A good color sand and polish will make a mirror finish like the above car.

PPG or Dupont. Either one will look great if prepped, applied, sanded and buffed properly.
You may want to dull down the clear on the jambs and all of the red. Upper dash needs dulled a little more. None of the red was buffed. This information was told to me by the person who painted #245 at Flint in 1953. So the trunk and decklid areas need to be NOT glossy.

Since the car is a solid color why use BC/CC and not acrylic enamel?
I personally like BC/CC for depth, ease of use and metallic colors, but find acrylic enamel does a better job at replicating the look of Lacquer. Acrylic enamel is also really easy to rub out and polish.

Some people will use the less expensive base coat (shopline in PPG ?) and put there money in the top of the line clear coat. Just be sure to stick with the same mfg. Dupont or PPG. I have always used PPG.
I think CC is mainly for UV protection...? I have sprayed 5-6 coats before and color sanded for the mirror finish. But you may be able to achieve the same with single stage...
I believe it is all priced, based on the solids count of the material.
