Default Salt & pepper carpet

I need some salt & pepper carpet in a non-stock color for my '59. Anyone know where I can get this type carpet in orange/black or copper/black? I'm not looking for a cut set of carpets, just the carpet material.

Ummm, if it's non-stock color you want, why would you care if it's salt and pepper???

He may need it for that strip of carpet along the door panels that's hard to replace...

Because I am very picky

I just don't want a solid color and I thought the "salt and pepper" term best described the texture that I am looking for.

Charles,

You might try Auto Tops and Interiors

Raleigh, NC 27603
Tel: (919) 821-4425

Tommy Gardner is pretty knowledgeable. He also does custom stuff.

Check with Auto Custom Carpets, www.stockinteriors.com.

They make carpet kits for Corvettes and other cars, and offer an assortment of carpet types and colors. If you click on "Tuxedo Loop" under the "Samples" section of their website, you will find a copper and black Tuxedo carpet sample. Tuxedo, and Salt & Pepper, are basically the same.

If that color works for you, Auto Custom Carpet should be able to make up any year Corvette carpet set, using the copper Tuxedo carpet.

Yes...they did my Haartz top on the 58. I noticed Wilcox sent some samples above. That copper looks like it might be close to what you mentioned.

I purchased my carpet through Wilcox and found them priced fairly and the quality of the carpet was excellent for what I paid.

Thanks all for the replies.

The Copper swatch looks close to what I am looking for, but it's hard to tell from a picture. I have ordered swatches from several dealers.

Charles,

You will be pretty limited on variance on this. To my knowledge there is only one mill making this stuff.. I may be wrong..

But if you have a swatch from ACC... then you have what is in the picture.

Well I received several carpet samples in the mail today, and I'm sorry to say that they were even duller than the pictures on the various websites. Doesn't anyone make a bright colored carpet anymore? I am looking for something similar to the picture below. It is a sample of some carpet that I had in an old Corvair van back in the 70's. I don't think any of the automotive carpet suppliers sell anything like it anymore, and I have checked Home Depot, Lowes, and commercial carpet sites. Anyone know where I can get something like this?

The last time I saw anything like that I was wearing bell bottoms, a ridiculously wide belt and a shirt with long pointy collars and singing along with Abba.

It was in my hippy van on the floor with all kinds of stains (from unknown sources).

I'd go with black too!

But a black interior just doesn't go with the orange LED's around the headlamps and the purple florescents under the rocker panels!!
