James Bond should have driven a Corvette Stingray...
A classic battleship gray Aston Martin will always be the classic Bond car, but I always thought Bond should have driven a Corvette Stingray coupe (the 1963-67 variety) in one of the Connery films. When he is in the U.S. it just seems like he would drive this car. Goldfinger would have been a good movie for that. As far as American cars I think Bond drove a '57 Chevy in Dr. No, a Mustang in Diamonds are Forever, and a C4 Corvette in A View to a Kill.

I think Bond would have driven a Saddle Tan (Goldish) '63 Corvette Stingray Z06 Coupe with the optional big tank for longer trips. The convertible is always easier for DPs, but I think the fuel-injected small block coupe is more Bond's style.

James Bond is to cool for a Corvette. You can't have James Bond driving around in the everymans sportscar.
I could just see him in later years in The Spy Who Loved Me driving one of those turkey turd tan 180 hp '76's with a Vega steering wheel rather than the Lotus.
Plus the license plate would never fit.

Since James was English all his equiment had to be English.Just be thankful they did not give the girl in Goldfinger a Stingray but rather a Mustang who tried to run james off the road and He had to use the spinner to blow out her tire. I would hate to see the side of a nice Vet get ripped up just to film a movie scean. A loss of another Mustang was no big deal, heck there were half a million of them on the road anyway in 1965.

Bond drove a Mustang is Diamonds are Forever and a Toyota GT2000 in You Only Live Twice. He does not only drive British cars, in fact he drove a white C4 in A View to a Kill.

It would have taken all of Q's genius just to make the Lucas Electrics reliable.
For those not familiar with older British cars...

Hilarious, but not when I owned my Sunbeam Tiger in the '60s Thanks for the chuckle! (But I do enjoy my Guinness at Lucas temp... In fact, that sounds like a good idea right now. Thanks for the thought. )

In the first Bond film, James drove a Sunbeam Alpine and had trouble losing the bad guys on a mountain road and they were in like a '47 Plymouth. He looked stupid in the car, here a Corvette would have been a good substitute.
This was in the days before product placement.
