Default Rear Wiring Harness

Hi folks, I'm going to install a rear lamp harness and put in new tail lights at the same time on my 67 coupe, how difficult is it to put the rear harness on. I was just wondering how many of you guys have done it and how difficult it was. Looks to me the spare tire hub should come off for better access

Let me know what you folks think. Thanks for any help.

I did mine a few years ago. Of all of the harnesses, I think that the rear is the easiest. I recommend removing the valence under the bumper. It will make access much easier. My only issue was making a good ground connection. Take note of where the current harness is grounded. Good luck!!

Remove Tire tub
Remove valance
remove sill plate
remove wire cover next to seat that is under carpet
remove rear quarter panel behind seat
You will have to trace out "harness" under carpet to the rear bulkhead and remove it to get harness out.
At bulkhead there is a rubber grommet that might be missing or rotted.

Good luck....

Since I was getting under the carpets in the back I decided to take it all up and install heat shield. It made the rear harness installation easier, but resulted in "project creep"... well if I'm doing the back I might as well do the front, and replace the firewall insulation, and install the missing sound deadener... that took a few weeks instead of a few hours... doh! Have fun!

Default Rear Harness

Thanks again fella's. I ordered the lights and harness from CC, they said all their wiring harnesse's are from Lectric Limited, so I ordered them yesterday to take advantage of their free shipping.

Did you get a new grommet for the hole where the harness passes through the rear bulkhead? Chances are that the original grommet will crumble when you remove it, or be hard as a rock.
