Default Interior Batting Removal from 65 Coupe

I am currently restoring my 65 big block coupe. The interior has been removed. When the carpeting was removed, it left behind quite a bit of the underlying batting material used to insulate the floor. My question is what do I use to remove this and not potentially damaging the fiberglass?

you can try lacquer thinner with a wide scraper tool.

Use a wire brush to remove the majority of the threads. Then use a sharpened putty knife to scrape off the glue. It doesn't have to be perfect because you're gonna be putting more glue down. Here's a pic. of how I left mine after using the above procedure.

Here's one after the insulation is added

Depending on how much jute material remains will influence your choice of tools. Heavy remaining jute can clog up a wire brush, best to use a slightly dull putty knife, as it will not gouge the fiberglass. Dennis
