Kerosene works well. I use a spray bottle. Let it work and then scrape with a putty knife or bondo spreader. Repeat as required and then finish off with lacquer thinner.
Gas works better but we're older and wiser now.
There is no quick and easy.

I am just finishing up my wheel wells. I used a product called Spray On. It is sprayable paint remover,it works extremely fast using scrapers 2inch body filler spreaders and finishing the cleanup with acetone and rags. My wheel wells came out brand new. You might find it local but I bought it on Ebay 48.00 per case. Wes

Yes you aren't heating the glass up much just enough to make the undercoating soft to be able to scrape it off. If you kept a heat gun in one spot for a long time yes it will but you shouldn't do that. It doesn't take much to make it soft.

Here's what I wound up doing and it works great.Got Fiberglass paint remover, brushed it on waited a little while then scraped it off, maybe did it total of two or three times, then I brushed it on again and used a scotch brite pad,Then I sprayed Laquer thinner on and used a scotch brite pad again, then wipe off with laquer thinner and shop towels,Looks like new. Did the same for the frame also only other thing I used was a wire wheel attachment to my drill to get to bare metal. Sounds like a lot of work but it's not...

I use this to remove crud, thick material from everything. You need to be careful on fiberglass but it beats using a putty knife.
