What To Buy?
A numbers matching 1967 327 - 350 hp which has been repainted in a non-original color or a 1966 with the original color but a nom big block?
What hurts appreciation over the long term more, wrong color or wrong motor?

Color v/s om
well the cost to return the SB/350 to original color is lets say 15K..
it would be true to tag...and 65 350's go for lets say 50-60 K (Ones that are restored and nice inside and out)
The 66 will never be a OM...but they do have a appeal next to top of the line numbers matching..then ask your self...gonna drive it and have fun or look to sell it one day....
both have appeal but to different potential buyers IMOH
there are #'s guys...and BB guys

Was the BB originally a BB car?
Generally speaking, wrong color hurts less than NOM.

BB v/s SB
So one response was what was original color...
and is 66 original BB...
I can say this if the motor is a CE..or a close to period correct...it makes the BB a little more attractive ( and there is allot of appeal for BB POWER) matching or not....
and the BB will still appreciate down the road to someone like you that won't payTOP $ for number matching...
the SB will appreciate too..but is in a class of it's own...but back to #'s matching + appeal Divided by value(+-)documentation... or not....what PRICE RANGE ARE THESE potential cars in?
and condition,,,and money to restore etc...

You hit the nail on the head. I really want the BB but I don't want to pay $120k. Numbers matching is appealing but I love the BB sound and performance, the look of the BB hood, the 427 flags etc. But I'm torn about what the car will be worth in 10 years. This will be an investment/sunny Sunday driver.

Kind of a jump ball still. Lots of people love the Nassau blue.
Now it comes down to three things, IMO - condition, correctness and documentation.
Since you indicate appreciation is important as this is a quasi-investment, you don't want to dump more money into fixing it up unless you buy it at a good price.
How do you know it's really a big block car? If you pay NOM BB money and find out later it's not an original BB, you're going to take a hit.

Have you been reading and researching these cars and their personalities? Dennis

You say the 67 is a numbers matching 327/350, but is it the "original" numbers matching engine? People use the matching numbers term loosely...just because it's a number matching block, doesn't mean it's the original numbers matching block...
Tank sticker still on the 67?

There is a difference between "numbers matching" and "original numbers matching".
Be sure you're not paying an "original numbers matching" price for a "numbers matching" 67.

Very, very few C2s have their original engines after almost 50 years. If you've always wanted a big block, get the BB car at an appropriate price and enjoy. It should be driven, well-maintained, and passed on to the next fortunate soul at little or no net cost to you!

What do you want an old Corvette for? Enjoy working on old car mechanics and cosmetics? A numbers matching show car you can brag about? A portfolio investment? A club cruise night participant and weekend driver to enjoy? Always admired the mid-year appearance and wanted one? Use to have one as a kid or young adult and want to recapture that?
Depending on your motives, they might make a difference in which car you will be happier with. A lot of us don't really look at these cars from the appreciation and investment standpoint. A lot of people would pursue a BB as a need for speed and the ultimate in performance. But actually a stock BB mid-year is quite a bit slower than a dozen new cars you can buy. Many think a 327/350 is a superior driver for street use. Generally the only rule that seems to apply across the board is to buy the best condition and straightest car you can afford.
