OT - Keels and Wheels Seabrook 2014
Good afternoon,
Time for our local yacht club's Keels and Wheels boat and car show in Seabrook Texas, just a few miles down the road from me. Beautiful weather, great turnout.

Beautiful venue, classic cars, wooden boats, and great photography - doesn't get any better than that! Thanks for posting!

Wow, nice 'little' collection there.
I remember that AMX3 Bizzarini (sp) from back in the day from car mags at the time, and had forgotten about it.

Jeff,
EXCELLENT pics! Venue appears 1st class too! Thanks for posting this. Nice to see a warm weather environment this time of the year. We're still struggling to get to 60 degrees all day!

Thanks Guys for the comments!
DaveZ - Yes there were several Pierce Arrows. I typically see 3 or 4 each year. The event is the first weekend in May, every year. Get up early, head down here, see the show, go to lunch, head back. Easy peasy!

Cool, the Darrin. 1953 if I remember correctly. Only about 500 built. Fiberglass car with "pocket doors" Father-in-law had one he was restoring. He passed before it was finished. I love the "lips". Very unusual innovative car.

If you and Karen want to go to this event next May we are in. Patti and I went to this show for several years and I was going to mention it to you this year, but a family tragedy took the wind out of our sails.(I'll tell you later).
I really want to move into the classic boats at some point, but will have to build it! Ha! (That's my better half laughing!)
Several years ago Cliff Robertson who Played JFK in the film PT-109, was there and the PT boat replica was there as well!
Incredibly, I was mentored in the late '50s and 60's by some very wealthy (obviously) people in Toledo, Ohio who had these cars and Boats. My dad knew them as he was a custom tool and die maker at the Champion Spark Plug Co. in the '40's and 50's. One character actually had a surplus PT boat from WWII . The Twin Packard engines had fuel lines that were about 1 inch in diameter! But the sound and fury from these classics is something I will never forget.
Let's go to the Seabrook Concours next May.
Regards,
Dennis

It was a real PT boat called Oh Frankie. It came to Keels and Wheels shortly before being relocated to the museum in Fredricksburg.

At one point during the event a few of the Japanese Zero movie planes from Tora! Tora! Tora! did a mock attack on the yacht club with fake guns and real smoke, and the "crew" on the PT 309 fired back with their armament.
