Do the major stuff first. A body-on resto, if you will. I wish I took my own advice when I started. You can always make improvements as your driving it, and then it's not laid up and you don't break the bank either.

I have some thinking to do about how to tackle this. After looking the car over the interior smells of mold and inside back under the rear window looks like a water line as if it has been underwater. I need to drain the oil and see what's up with the motor and see if it even turns.
I'm very skeptical now. The engine compartment has mud in it.

How hard is to pull the body off? I may need to do something with the frame. I crawled underneath, the birdcages are good and the frame is solid just very oxidized like it was under water.

Are you selling now ?

I have no interest, just making sure it wasn't a bogus ad and somebody stole your pictures.

Take the body off, restore the chassis, and do the interior with a new wiring harness from Lectric Limited. You'll be in running shape, drive it tough looking and can chase the rest as you drive it. If you are totally discouraged (imho you shouldn't be), pm me. I'm in the middle of a '65 resto, but maybe we can do some trade or outright sale business.

Looks like you are in for a new wiring harness at a minimum.

Even though I was interested in the flares, I am stilll
Pulling for the car to stay in the character that we are seeing. I personally think a prettier car can have as many costly problems, plus the higher car costs, as a bargain car bought at a savings, that you fix up. What is your realistic budget, if you don't mind me asking? Monthly? or Overall? I wouldn't go all crazy with a frame off!!!! Get a good sandblaster is the first investment that I would recommend! Something that will handle the new medias. Buy a cheaper spray gun and do the frame with body on in two part epoxy, do the body work and primers, unless you have a paint booth access and experience with the color coats. Check gauges, and only send them out individually if one has a problem, engines are engines and if you are buying a crate -- I would recommend the CT series (circle track GM offerings) or a ZZ base short block or pluck that sucker out and tear it down, to see what your got! An engine hoist/and a couple hours and it is on the ground to disassemble! The suspension is completely do it yourself, then the brakes, I wouldn't go all crazy-- but would recommend Stainless Steel sleeved, interior-- go find the little shop in a lower income neighborhood and take the seat covers in for install, do your own carpet, if you have to rebuild a tranny-- check the age of the components carefully as to how thin the gear teeth are, and if it is marginal, just buy a super T-10 and shorten the driveshaft, etc... I think guys on this forum get all caught up on dreaming they can afford the top shops in all specialties!!!!!!!!! A lot of work can be handled with the little guys that probably exist in your neighborhoods!
