Biltmore trip photos
Last weekend my wife and I went on her first Corvette overnight trip - drove the old highways (64 and 74 from just north of Chattanooga all the way to Asheville NC to visit the Biltmore again and stay at their excellent Inn. Total interstate travel was only about 15 miles, the rest beautiful country highways and two small twisty river roads, the Ocoee and the Nantahala.
By my count, I went 450 odd miles in a roundtrip only 40 hours or so. Including our hour or so putting around the grounds that evening with lots of stops and starts the old gal got 16.9 mpg average which seems healthy. And she stayed cool and behaved properly. The selfie pole photo is on a private drive at the grounds! Attached below are some photos- I recommend this drive to anyone close. You can also to the Tail of the Dragon relatively nearby, but we didn't have the extra time away from the kiddos.
I love this car!!!

Glad you had a great trip! The western part really is the prettiest part of the state. Next time check out Chimney Rock/Lake Lure area. It's about 45 minutes from Asheville and has some nice twisty roads!

I'm from Chattanooga but lived in Durham for almost three years- yes the western part is best. "the triangle" was fine, but the topography was pretty boring. And the Atlantic coast is just nothing compared to the Gulf.

Thanks for posting the photos - looks like you guys had a great trip.
I'm glad to hear the car performed well and you made it back home without any issues.

Nice photos! I grew up in Candler, NC right next to Mt Pisgah. It always amazed me that Mr. Vanderbilts estate stretched all the way out to where we lived at one time.

It was amazing land for one guy. It's also amazing how big the siblings mansions were/are in Manhattan and Long Island. Thanks for the compliments. The one of the car by the stone bridge is one of my new favorites.

Great photos, looks like things started a little topsy turvy though , Great to get these cars out and stretch their legs, we did the Power Tour last year from Charlotte, NC to Wisconsin Dells and found the first 3 days beautiful country.

I'm guessing according to rick that one photo converted "flipped" - very frustrating when it happens 'cause the are oriented correctly on my phone and on the forum mobile site. Oh well.
As for the selfie stick- my wife got me one as a gag over Christmas but it turns out you can make some crazy shots with it- I took video of my son and I on an alpine slide that was priceless!
Thanks for the kind words. I love really using the car for...a car!

That sounds like a fun road trip! Hopefully this weather will blow out of south Georgia so we can ride down to Panacea on the Gulf coast this weekend for some seafood!
