Default very tired rear leaf spring.....

i'm wanting to replace the rear leaf on my '66, and i want OEM style spring. does anyone know where i can buy one that will get me back to original stance? my previous experience with replacing rear leaf always left the car jacked up about 3" too high! thanks, Rick

I would vote for a new leaf from Eaton Detroit Spring (http://www.eatonsprings.com/). Their springs are made in the USA and the closest to original you’ll find. I opted for the standard spring (ML357, 6/3 – 9 leaf) and I’m very happy with the ride and ride height. If you’re concerned with correctness, you can also install Quanta liners. I ordered my spring unpainted and painted it the correct gray with paint from LIC.

After installing and driving it a few miles, it settled in and the “K” dimension (AIM UPC 4, sheet B5) is spot on. As for ride stiffness, it feels right to me based on how I remember my first ’67, 48 years ago.

This should be the link you need to price your spring. I replaced a new spring from a parts vendor after one year because it was junk. Bought an Eaton and all was back to being right. They sell them painted or unpainted depending on your needs. Cost will be around $240 before shipping but worth it. Dave

Rick - I paid $286 including shipping back in 2012. I thought it was one of the most reasonable purchases I've made for my '67.

I've been happy with my Eaton 9 leaf as well. Threw the clamps away, disassembled to paint the leafs and reinstalled. Not exact but very close to OEM. Got my ride height back.

Yeah, be sure to remove those two clamps with the rubber under them that are about 6" from the ends. Those are there for shipping purposes only.
