Do you use any gasket sealer with your gaskets on your intake manifold and if so what kind. Reinstalling mine tomorrow and just wondering whats the best route to take.
Thanks

Yes around the coolant passages you need a RTV that is made for coolant

I use The Right Stuff around the water passages, and I also use it on the China walls.

Right Stuff or permatex...I use the Toyota sealer as well. As good as Right Stuff, but more pricey. Last time I used the rubber gaskets on the 'China walls' they blew out in less than 50 miles. Re-did the job with Toyota Silcone and everything is dry as a bone. I'll never use the end-piece gaskets again.

So you don't use the rubber gaskets?

Do you use the sealer on the entire gasket/both sides?

No, I don't think many do. If you choose to use them rubber or cork, do a trial fit without them in place, and just the head/intake gasket in place. Then measure the gap. Many intakes have been decked and the clearance is less yhen stock, causing the end gaskets to squish out.

I have never had good luck with them and I really did not want to use them.

Use "Right Stuff", a thin bead, around water ports only. Be sure to do both sides of gaskets. Run a @3/8 " bead over China Walls, instead of rubber gaskets, and be sure to dab into corners. Will seal up nicely. If you want to position intake gaskets and hold in place, put a small dab of weatherstrip adhesive on gasket in between ports to hold gasket in place while you position and place intake manifold. Do not neglect thread sealer on intake manifold bolts (Locktite PST to prevent oil wick). Plan this whole action carefully. You do not want for sealant to skim over before assembly...have everything clean and ready for sealant application and assembly, especially if weather is hot and humid. Hope this helps. Best...

NO......Just put a healthy bead across the the top of the walls. It also might be a good time to consider using the fuelie intake gaskets, and block off the exhaust crossover to prevent gas percolation problems in the carb. Just put a small bead around the water passages.

Make sure the bead is "healthy" enough! Test fit the manifold and eyeball the gap. You don't want to under-size that bead (ask me how I know!)

Yes to the Right Stuff on the front and back of the valley. 1/4" bead and it will never ever leak. I use Gasgacinch on the heads around the ports and on the head only side of the gasket. Let it dry. Stick them on. No slip, no leak.

I like the idea of using the fuelie gaskets. I will order a set tonight
