Input wanted on selling 63-64 Western Wheel KO's
This group is always so helpful to each other. I would like your collective thought on selling my set of the original Western Wheel knock-offs. Right now they are mated to very nice redline radials. To speed the sale, should keep the wheels/tires together, or have the tires removed and sell the both separately. My thoughts right now depending on your feedback is to price the wheels alone for $1100 and/or price the wheels with the tires mounted for $1400. Thoughts guys????

If these are original dated 63 - 64 wheels, I am quite interested. Are they original or 1st repros? what is the condition?

Western Wheel KO's
Thanks for the msg, SWC Tim. I am not well versed enough to know the differences between original and repro Western Wheels, sorry. I just recall that they were marked Western Wheel on the inside of the wheel and that they are not drilled for safety pins. Thanks, Mike.

My two cents
It depends on how you are trying to sell them. Local, or nationally advertised.
If you have to ship them, the buyer just may want "just" the rims, as the added weight of 4 tires, plus the additional cost of the tires to the sale won't justify the price of em.
But a local guy may want both, so maybe say the tires are free with the rims, and move ahead accordingly.
That being said, its harder to move USED tires by themselves. Folks are always suspicious about used tires.

As said, with shipping involved, most will not want the tires, unless the tires are somehow desirable enough to warrant the extra shipping costs.
Tire desirability would include posting the date codes on the tires. If old, I doubt anybody would want to use them.

I sold mine to a CF member 4-5 mos ago for $1100.
Buyer paid shipping. Tires were a non factor to value as the were 30 yrs old.

I understand the first repros were still made (indirectly) by Kelsey Hayes, but as a subsidiary they set up under the name Western Wheels. Here's what's cast on the backside of 4 that I have: WESTERN WHEEL CORP.___K-H____306065____15 x6.
Then two stampings: BJ0587, and ZJ7122. I attach a photo of the stampings I have noted on all 4 wheels. I'm guessing that they were made in Feb of 1987. Another 2 pics show the difference between the repro and an original 1966. Note slight rim contour difference and width of vanes, and where the vanes begin and end, relative to the rim and the center cone. Much closer to original than later repros with fat fins, etc.
On the back of the spinner ears: cast (ear 1) USA, (ear 2) LH, (ear 3) U4.
These have the slots for pins in the adapter and spinners.

Not sure of the timeline on the repro KO's, but I know that around 1975, I checked with a GM dealer and the wheels were still available (probably '66 version) but at a ridiculous price. I think the repros started shortly after that.

Here is some of stamping on early Western (K-H) wheels.
These are on my '69 15*8 with NO pins.
Sorry for the quality but I took these a long time ago not knowing I would ever have to post You need to look close.
There is other stampings but I can't make them out in pic. Someday when I have them off I will cleanup and take more pics (not soon )
