Starbucks & 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupes – A perfect Combination
If you like cars there is an informal gathering of car collectors and their cars in the parking lot by Starbucks in Soquel, CA every Saturday. It is amazing the variety of cars that show up and more than 75% of them are different every week. This past Saturday we dropped by Starbucks for coffee and I was immediately drawn to a silver 1963 Corvette split-window coupe with a red interior. Back in 1968-1969 I owned an identical 1963 split-window coupe with a 327/300hp engine and 4-speed transmission, but it was red with a red interior.
While I was photographing the car another Silver 1963 split-window coupe arrived and it parked a few aisles away.
Hard to believe I would have the opportunity to view and photograph two magnificent silver 1963 Corvette split-window coupes in stunning condition. Hope you enjoy the photographs.

And both with BFG Radial T/A's, THE "old Corvette" replacement street tire for a couple of decades or more. Hubcaps with white letters showing, and KOs with 'em turned in (my style).
Rare 2-prong spinners too, aftermarket only I presume?
And do they work on real KOs or bolt-ons only?

I can't recall 15" real KO wires coming from the factory on ANY postwar Chevy. Like to see some documentation.

Now I DID see a Chevy dealer's parts department book listing for a 15" standard equipment aluminum wheel for the 1984 C4. AIR 16" wheels were supposed to be an OPTION, but a few months before production started someone (Zora?) made 'em standard.
Memory is hazy but I seem to remember 13" wire wheels as a factory option on Corvair Monzas in '61 or '62. Not sure if they were KO or bolt-on.

I helped a friend restore a Sebring Silver and red interior 63 327/340 coupe, back in 1980. I came close to buying it from him in 84, but the car was a trailer queen, having won multiple NCRS Top Flights, and it was something I'd never feel comfortable driving. He sold it for $18,000 at the time, and had a hard time getting it.
The word "Chevrolet" and the bow tie are the correct markings for the 63 two bar spinners. The Corvette used the same two bar spinners that were used on 13" Corvair wire wheels.
But they say"Chevrolet" twice with a bowtie in the center! More appropriate for an Impala, for a C2 application they should say Chevrolet Corvette with crossed flags IMO.

Love those 2 bar KOs - just surprised nobody's mentioned the wheels should be a natural gray between spokes, not black... oops I just did!

Okay, I believe you guys. But, anybody got a clear pic of a 1963 window sticker showing the code, description and retail price for the optional Corvette KO wire wheels? That'd be news to me!
