It is documented that my '67 is #2483 and is in the same run of the Shriners cars. Do the Shriners cars have the chrome band around the shifter? I guess these cars will continue to puzzle us. Dennis

harwood dormans L-89 from yenko chevy is now in Canada and the guy who owns it now came to see me at Carlisle as I worked on the car when new and knew harwood for years so maybe compare these 2 cars.

Reading the comments from (the esteemed) Mr. Sinor certainly calls its authenticity into question (read: doubt). I assume there is no way to determine from the VIN whether it was originally an L89.
I saw a 2002 sale of a genuine 67 L89 (with correct NOM) for $225k, and the listing mentioned that it was "one of 11" in the official registry. Can anyone point to this registry? Who determines whether this car will or won't be added to that registry?

I also would like to see the dates and such on the heads of this claimed car
It is not uncommon for a devout enthusiast to idolize a particular model type and add or change things to mimic the rarest and most desirable of the breed! No big deal! If the guy had all of the cars that have been discussed, he would have known what it was or changed it into that!
PS two years from now, it will morph into being an actual L88 with J-56 brakes, the transistorized ignition, the hood, and other such goodies!

In the following post #33 I believe I said I'm not sure I've ever seen a real IU coded 67 engine.

In post #32 above "Roy said absent any real paperwork to document this IU coded engine he was not going to confirm or deny its authenticity. I simply refuse to be the guy to make that decision. I did see the engine suffix and the heads not much else to say, might be real might not, I could not tell. I gave the auction house all the dates and casting numbers, that's it."
