Different to say the least. Excess power to state the obvious.
Be careful till you sort it out and get familiar with it's driving characteristics.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Quit raining last nite so when the sun comes out this afternoon it's up my back country test road.
Since my last Vette (65) was a small block I don't know much about the dynamics of the big block. The previous owner did put the big block front coil springs in and a new rear leaf. It just looks funny with a solid rear axle. I would have thought because of the previous big blocks in these years a stock rear end would have worked. Probably a drag racing thing I'm not familiar with!

Neat car. Strange, but in a good way. I'd guess that since the guy in the early '80's bought it with no running gear, he slipped what he had under the rear end of the car...a Dana solid axle unit. It's what he had and was compatible with the other parts he had available. I wonder why the original driveline was missing...theft recovery, or restoration that never got done?

Those early hemi's are a lot of fun, and draw a lot of attention at a car show. I stuffed this one in my '36 Dodge pickup, it's a real hoot to drive!

Well the test drive was interesting.
1. Steering is very vague. Older cars where similar but I'm tightening the adjust on top of steering box.
2. Throttle return springs to tight - fixed that
3. Clutch needs more throw - will adjust
4. Brake pedal way to high. Tried adjust pedal to master cylinder, need to move it down further. Will check rear "drum" brakes to see if I can loosen them a little.
5. Ran into a knowledgable fellow who say's the rear end is a 9" Ford,
What a mix!!!!!!!!!

I remember seeing it on Craigslist last year. I contacted the seller about it and he seemed to know what he was doing when he built it. I think he wanted $39K for it, maybe a little less. I guess he sold it to the dealer you bought it from. Nice unusual car. Enjoy.

I haven't had a V8 for many years. 4 cyl Mini Cooper, 6 cyl Porsche but when that V8 starts up, phew!! Brings back memories. 50 year old car does need some TLC. Stopped at a local body shop that does a lot of custom work. Will probably give it to them to detail out the body and repaint. Since it will be a repaint I'll have them paint it like my old 65 coupe. What good are memories unless you can re-live them.
