54. Way back in 2015. But my first ever car as a teenager was a tripower, 4 speed '66 GTO....so not too shabby.

I am the original owner of my '63 triple black convertible. I was 18 years old when I stared buying it. I paid every dime on it but did need Dad (with Mom's approval) to cosign the loan. I took possession of it on Feb.27, 1963. Current mileage is 548,000. I view our ride as a driven Corvette.

Thanks for the interest and safe driving to all.

My first Corvette was a 2003 purchased new via the internet from a dealer in Montana. I was 56. I kept that car 10 years. When I finally traded it for a Honda Odyssey I missed my Vette every day until 2015 when I went nuts and bought my second and third Vettes, a 2015 and a 1954. My only regret is that I didn't suck it up and buy one earlier in my life.

Bought my '61 when I was 17 (summer before my senior year of high school). Worked at a gas station pumping gas and changing oil to pay for the upkeep.
Got my butt kicked about a year later trying to keep up with three C3s on some winding mountain roads (in Alaska), and decided right there that I wanted a C3. Sold the '61 and bought the '69 in my avatar shortly before my 19th birthday.

I was 33 when I bought my C5..
But the '61 which I inherited, was purchased new by my Dad when he was 18 in 1961.
His grandfather loaned him the money as a reward for enlisting in the Air Force.

Drove the Vette to my prom.

I wanted to buy a '74 BB 4 speed when I was 23 in 1978 and an E3 in the USAF stationed at March AFB, Ca. Luckily, I checked with my insurance company before I pulled the trigger. The agent almost laughed at me and said he wouldn't insure the car. Had nothing to do with my driving record (perfect) or even my age. He said Corvettes were stolen all the time so they no longer insured them. The car I was going to buy had been stolen and after being recovered, had some new interior pieces installed as the thieves tore it up. I had to "settle" for a brand new '78 Camaro Z28 and didn't buy my first Vette ('75) until 1993 when I was 38.

I was 16 and with my Dads help I purchased a new 58 Corvette that was totaled with less than 1500 miles on it. Found a rear clip took us almost 9 months to get it back on the road. Started to drive it, could not afford the insurance, had to sell it to pay for my first year of college. Bought my second Corvette when I was 27 ( 62), still have it 49 years later.
Sold it to buy a 68 SS 396 Camaro. Replaced it with a 62 about 13 years ago.
Going to my 50th HS Reunion this year.

All three pics look nostalgically close to what my current car looked like in 1974, when i was 17. Including the hardware store white dryer vent on the heater inlet, and lack of fan shroud. I did have a fan spacer, though.
At least your car had carpet and didn't have a hole in the floor where the front U-joint blew sometime prior to me getting it. the hole did provide extra heat during the first winter until i fixed it.

Lot of '61 first cars. I wonder if that's because they were cheaper than the 327 '62, and at time more desirable earlier cars.

I bought my first Corvette brand new in 1966 at the tender age of 23 right out of college. The second one I bought in my second childhood in 2016 at the tender age of 73.

I was 17 and it was 1983...I traded my truck for a '72 coupe...I can't believe my Dad let me make that trade!! Luckily I didn't kill myself (or anyone else) with it!
It was a bit more custom than I would have preferred, but many had been from the '70's!! I wish I still had it!! I've bought/traded about 50 vehicles since then but have always kept the other Corvettes that I've picked up since then (3)!!

I was 17 when I bought my first 66 rdster. Dropped out of highshcool and bought a Vette! That meant that I had to learn how to make a lot of money to support my habit!

Bought my 1959 at age 18, in 1967. Wish I had kept it!

I did end up with some of the parts off his car, but only so he could upgrade. He bought a new tinted windshield, so I got his old one. And once it was discovered that my car had a 4.11 posi, I reluctantly agreed to swap rear ends (his was a 3.70 open) because of all the help he was giving me. I did end up eventually buying his 302 Z28 engine and sticking in my car, too.

The Tri-Y headers must have been from a passenger car. They hung so low I couldn't keep pipes/mufflers on the car. Talk about loud....
If you did a 1-2 shift holding the shift ****, you banged your elbow on the glove box.
Still, it would do 13.9 in the quarter.

I was 18 and 5 months. Sold my Corvair so I could move up. Wish I still had them both but I totaled the 65 and lived to tell about it. I did treat myself to another 1965 Vette to replace it 4 years ago. Bliss!
