Default Cragar S/S wheels. Hate 'em? Tires?

I just love Cragar S/S wheels... I think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Most people around me don't care for them. I have to admit, after picking up the second '69 in red, I am revisiting the idea of a nice new set of Cragar S/S (original design... 15" ONLY and no spinners or curved Smoothie spokes) on my black car.

I also saw a set of them mounted on redlines on a GTO at the Diamond Back site. Kinda small pic, but cool. It seemed like an option to mounting them on Goodrich Radial T/As.

Opinions? They would go on a black car. Are redlines "too stock" for them? I'd really like some feedback, so if you love 'em/hate 'em say so... just don't post the obligatory CF "it's your car do what you like!"

Pics are good if anyone has them.

PS: yes, I know they aren't NCRS.

I always liked the old school Cragars....I say go for it.You have some nice original cars, and putting a set of Cragars on is nonthing more than 20 nuts from a set of Rallys.....

I like that style rim. To me it is what should be on there.
That is what I will be putting on my '74.
Red line would look correct, that is what I would think would have been done back in the day.

Welcome back to the dark side! I've always felt the SS was the best looking of the five spoke designs.

Didn't get any better than Cragar S/S. Was just looking at 612's yesterday. Leaning toward those over TTII's. Was gonna go with 18" tho.

Cragers are all right, dont hate em,but they look good on a drag car.
Vettesbydesign...wow I like the headers.Looks like the way it was meant to be.
(I will never look at the normal Hooker sidepipes the same, looks like their dragging the ground.)
Man those pipes look good coming through the fender.Did you custom make them?

I think that they would look fine on an entry level Corvette. I see a long L-88 hood and flares in your future.

PS. Parachute pants were also cool in 1980.

Ahhhhh....the parachute pants......
Scott....the one advantage that Steve has over most all of us is.....if he's not feeling the cragars today, then all he has to do is go hop in one of his other original beauties.THAT.....is a lucky man!

Cragar S/S look great on almost everything up through 72-ish

As much as I love them myself, 15" Torque Thrusts (to me) are a much better match.

Neither looks "quite right" on the rubber bumper C3's. dunno why. probably 'too classic' for the modernized C3.

So now that I decided to put them on for the express specific purpose of pi$$ing Scott off, are they better with redlines (on a stock looking black car) or T/As?

Nice chrome on those things. I like them and the TT II's and even the Keystones (yikes!) but the S/S have some weird connection to when I first got into cars in the 70's for me. Actually, now that I think about it, the first Corvette I ever drove was an orange '72 with S/Ss on there.

Starting to understand my pathology now.
