Default 1973, clean. What do you think?

i found a 1973 Corvette C3, blue, all original.

the paint job is perfect, it's a matching numbers, it's the 180hp. Price is 14000.

the car needs some plastics inside and one door panel. Clock and oil pressure gauge don't work.

The car smoke a little bit, but it doesn't smell like burnt oil (i think the engine has never been rebuilt. I saw the car underneath and it's perfect.

Do you think 14000 is a good price?

Here is a picture (the car will be sold with stock wheels)

Default nice looking car

I have decided that the '73 is my fav model. When I was 10, I picked it the '73 off a poster with a drawing of every model corvette made (up to 1980 back then!)

Im in the market for a '73, so Im biased

As far as pricing, Im a newbie to the forum, but have had some great advice from CF members.

Good Luck

Aussie Mark

14K seem's fair...but, I would need to see a lot more photo's to completly agree....The smoke at start up bothers me, may need a ring job going in. I suspect it will come with the 15" X 8" Rally's? The clocks never work but my neighbor rebuilds them. Plastic's & Oil gauge can be purchased at many of the larger Corvette supply houses. Is this a 4-speed or Auto trans car?...... Need more photo's.

Stay in tune...

Automatic transmission. Reading the document from 97 till now, it seems to have 96000 miles.

Also the AC doesn't work.... power arrives, but air is not that cold.
It comes with Rallye wheels 15", but it does need new tires soon.
I think also the stock radio doesn't work.....

Interior are 100% original, he only replaced a door panel and the carpet. Everything else is 37 years old, but it looks good for its age.

It's one of the cheapest one i found, the color is beautiful (it doesn't need any work outside)

I think $14K for a car with 100K miles and engine/tranny not rebuilt is a bit steep...not to mention the non-functioning A/C. Obviously, you can spend whatever you want for the car, but you are paying about $2-3K for the convenience of 'not having to look for a less expensive car'. With the stock rims, a smoking engine, non-working A/C, some interior problems and non-functional gauges that car is worth $12K, tops.

What you are asking...can not be answered further than the following:

SMOKES
A/C INOP
RADIO INOP
CLOCK INOP
OIL GAUGE INOP
AUTO TRANS
AND NEEDS THIS THAT AND THE OTHER.....

Its what makes you happy that will determine the price....we can talk all day, and you can read posts all day....but, bottom line is...is this the car you want? If, it is great.... go get it.....if you are looking to go in on the cheap...offer the guy 11K and work up up from there. Hope this helps....

Stay in tune...

It starts at 11K and see what you can do. If you want it buy it, or you will lose it. only if it is what you want. Yes it is a nice color.

I think the smoke on start up would most likely be worn valve guides.

They can be replaced without removing the heads....

The oil pressure gauge needs to be fixed. A small PIA...

The clock and AC? Who needs those....

actually he can show me that the AC compressor works...

I don't really care about having the A/C in my car, but i care about having everything working in my car

Also:

The oil pan looks freshly repainted suggesting that the engine has been worked on recently. I would ask why.

The paint is almost certainly not original. I do not recognize that shade of blue for 1973.

Maybe it's matching numbers, but is it the original engine (or do you care?)

It should be the original engine except for the valve seals. He's saying it's a matching number, how can i check it? Somebody in another post told me that the last digit of the VIN should match the digit of the engine. is it right?

He also said that he got the car painted using the same original color..

Anyway.. 2 pics of the car, i see some rust actually (on the sides, through the black part) (pics are big)
