Silver Anniversary paint question
My 1978 corvette is in need of a paint job. the original color is two tone silver and gray, the silver anniversary colors i am thinking of painting it a different color like black or yellow or white i was just wondering if that was a good or bad idea? i know the color is not rare since many cars were painted it in 1978. Would my car lose alot of value being a different color? Any wisdom would be appreciated thanks

I think most "purists" will tell you that anytime you change the car significantly from it's factory configuration- it can impact value. So- yes, painting it a color/s diffferent than those indicated on the trim plate can reduce value- especially in a rare or limited production car.
But as you've said, the Anniversary model wasn't rare and as an every day driver it probably falls more into the category of "your car - your call".
If you aren't worried about NCRS, originality, etc- then do whatever it is that lets you enjoy your Vette.
Just my .02 -

My .02: A B2Z car in non-factory colors loses value. I understand there were about 15K of them, but it's the two-toned silver which makes them different.
Just the same, it's your SA.

I'm no purist by any means, and have a substantially modded SAE/B2Z myself, but if it's still a bone-stock original matching numbers one that has survived all these years, I'd recommend you strongly consider keeping it that way, and perhaps find another shark to toy with. No, I don't have any regrets for having gone over to the dark side myself, but it was a long, long time ago when I started down that path. Hope for you, yet, there might still be...

Strange, most here hadn't mentioned the tape accent striping, as probably the biggest part. I've had cars painted like this before, and had a pin striper paint everything back on. Actually better than factory, but not cheap. No matter what, take plenty of pictures, with clear measurements marked on, before it's all stripped off.
