Default Patriot 64cc aluminium heads = good or evil?

Hi,

I´ve found these heads in Ebay UK:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Chevy-Small-B...item257601fb9e

I think they are the Patriot Freedom China made aluminium castings.
If you google and watch Youtube there are quite controversal opinions about the Patriot heads...
I don´t care about best surface quality and small imperfections.
I just want good heads for a reasonable price below 800 USD to replace my worn old GM 3927186 casting heads.

Any ideas and facts?

BR

do u feel lucky? worst that could happen is that they need to be taken off and sent back. (valve seat falls out, leaks coolant, etc) considering the ship cost and time to re-install, +gaskets, i don't see it worth the risk.
Hgh rated and USA made heads include
Dart SHP $880-1000
Pro Filers (jegs house brand $999)
Edelbrock perfomer rpm(also E-streets $929 but less hp)
Trick flow
GM Vortec, but need intake, rockers, VC
All worth brown bagging lunch to save the extra money.
.
Q: What about the Flo-Tec heads sold by Speedway motors? Less power after 5000 rpm, but cheap! about $740+ship
Made by tristatecylinderheads.com Carcraft test= same hp as iron vortec. and it's aluminum.

Idea ! If you are replacing heads spend what it takes to do it right . Putting a 800 limit is fine but dont then look at a head claiming performance that is sub par or you will spend a lot more then 800.00 .

Look on racing junk I got a new set of Fast burn GMPP heads for 900.00 shipped .. And made my zz4 crate a zz430

Although the heads are cast in China, they are assembled and finished in Rainbow City Alabama with some very nice parts. I think Car Craft magazine tested them and many others under the $1,000.00 price range and the heads produced the most horsepower. I don't know if some of the fore mentioned heads were in that price range at the time but they did surpass the Vortec's. A friend put a set of the 185cc heads on a 350 in a Nova and loves them. He's had them for over a year and drives the car like a kid would and has no problems. That being said, I think any part bought today no matter where it's made could be a toss up.

You mean this review:

The name "Patriot" is a little bit ironic...
I don´t think that all the famous American cylinder head products are really completely made in the USA...
I´m working for the loudspeaker industry and I can tell you I see there any famous American and European brand in the Chinese factories...
So let´s accept the reality.

EVIL if you ask me.

Patriot is out of business as far as I know. I ordered a set of heads from them in September last year. They took my money and closed their doors a few days later. I filed a dispute through Visa and just this week got a final settlement (got my money back). Don't know if they are or ever will re-open, but they turned out to be crooks in my book.

Well that certainly solves that dilemma. Actually sorry to hear more workers out of work, no matter what the product, as long as it's legal.

I think you are really limiting yourself to used heads for an $800 price. RHS heads are very well priced with good quality. Also owned by comp cams. The iron heads are about $1100 assembled from summitracing and jegs. A good rework of your heads may be a budget option.
