Default 1968 427/435 mufflers

I have a 68 427/435 that I need to replace the mufflers on. Does anyone have a recommendation on what brand/style I should purchase?

I think Corvette Central sells ones that are closest to OEM. East Tennessee Vette in Knoxville, also sell a 68-72 muffler, that's very close to OEM.

Got mine from Corvette central. Plain Jane stock replacements. Fit right, look right, no surprises.

Your best bet for a OE style application is Walker mufflers direct fit....they had a lifetime warranty and correct brackets.....not cheap, but made for the 435`s ....if you buy the whole system you should be able to install it at home....Mid America features them in there books.......the alternative is the universal style that requires extra pieces and a hassle to do at home...and are not a direct fit....

Hi 68,
One of the things to consider when replacing mufflers is to decide how close to the original configuration you want the new system to be and look.
Originally the muffler was welded right to the exhaust pipe. Once you see how nice and smooth a system looks with out the pipe/muffler connection clamps hanging under the car, you may decide on a Gardner or Corvette Central system.
Worth considering?
Regards,
Alan
