Dashboard lightd
Think some of my lights are out. How many and what type do I need. Are there some that are brighter than standard?

not sure what bulbs your 82 is using but I replaced mine with LED's in the gauge bezel. the speedo and tach are a pain to get to and are on my list to replace in the future.
I am slowly replacing all my bulbs with LED's
find your bulb and go to amazon or ebay and search for the "XXX LED"

Your owner's manual lists the required bulbs.

If they are the dash lights, the bulbs can still be found at most parts stores. Look for the wattage on them though and get the highest wattage you can find.

I think the later years used the 194 bulbs instead of the 1895's in the dash.

The 1978-1982 cars used the same dash bulb and socket in all locations except 1.
194 is the correct bulb, and the only location that used a different bulb was the one in the heater control lamp located at the top of the center dash bezel. This bulb was a projection style bulb. 77 Used a combo of the bulbs above and the 194's in the center dash bezel only.
This is the socket. . . and if you pull the clusters out of the car, follow the instructions on our site for removing the dash pad.. it's covered in there.
If you use the printed circuit schematic on our site you can power up the cluster before you re-install it to test all the bulbs and sockets. Or you can just use an alternate power source and test each bulb installed in the socket.
The 194 bulb has a history of failure in the dash due to the tiny wires on the bulbs will not make good contact with the socket. In most cases, if the new lamp fails just just remove it and with a tiny pick pry the wire outward. When you re-install the bulb it should work...

I replaced all of the 194 dash bulbs with a 168 bulb. Same base but 1 candlepower brighter. I tried the leds. I didn't like that I couldn't adjust the brightness of them via the headlight switch. Maybe I got the wrong kind but I'm happy with the 168s.

I went with LED's so I wouldn't have to be tearing the dash apart so often because a bulb burned out. How often do you adjust the brightness on your dash?
