C-3 brake caliper rebuild

C-3 brake caliper rebuild
I understand there is a problem with lip seals on the C-3 brake calipers especially if the car sits for long periods time, like winter months. Has anyone had any problems with the O-Ring conversion kits that they sell or should I stick to rebuilding with lip seals. My 1970 has stainless steel sleeved calipers. There are a lot of pros and cons with both. Can anyone shed some light on this issue. Thanks

I have converted to O-rings on six of the eight calipers on my two cars. Here's my opinion. With O-rings you don't have to worry about the car sitting for a long time or losing your brakes because you developed a little runout. Why not do it?
I wouldn't do to eliminate sucking air if I knew I had a runout problem. I would fix that first.

I tried the lip seal rebuild kit from Autozone. Worked OK for a while, then ended up getting rebuilt calipers. They lasted about 2yrs, then same problem leaking.. I am replacing all 4 calipers and hoses (local shop doing the work). This way, I have a warranty! Replacing the front rotors, and wheel bearings too while they're at it. Unfortunately, my booster is leaking, so that's getting replaced too. If I had to do it over : DIY, I would have gone the O-Ring method, or just gotten all new SS calipers from

Drifting
I have had both rebuilt and o-ring stockers. Though the performance is ok with the o-ring calipers, if I could do it all over again I would go with the Wilwood retrofit kit. Great performance and easier pad replacement and most importantly no seal issues!

Shameless self promotion I know...but I can't wrap my head around the futzing with these old parts when you can do a new, full, four wheel kit with calipers, pads and ss hoses for about a grand. To the door.
I get the whole restoration angle and for the purest for auction it's not kosher but for anyone with a DD it's a proven cost effective change.
